SELF EXAMINATION!

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves ..." - 2 Cor 13:5

I remember that l had to write about this issue sometime in the past. My having to dwell once again on it is borne out of a deep spiritual conviction that I remind us once again that constant self-examination is a necessary process that every heaven conscious child of God should embark on. The scriptures enjoins that you " Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves..." (2 Cor 13:5). The psalmist also cried asking God to examine him, prove him, try his reins and his heart (see Ps 26:2).

Recently, the Lord took me to Genesis 6 and as He drew my attention to verses 11 & 12, my heart skipped and reverent fear gripped me. I discovered that the events that were in the days of Noah which attracted God's anger upon them are exactly being replicated in our days and particularly around us today.

I woke up this morning with a burden in me to cry to you to take the utmost heed of how you live in this "wicked and adulterous generation" (Mt 16:4)

Jesus compared our generation to that of Noah (Lu 17:26-27). In the days of Noah, the Bible records that  "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth" - Genesis 6:11-12 (KJV)

All around us today is abundant corruption and violence!  Every heaven conscious child of God should pray and strive to keep his garment un defiled (Rev 3:4) by the enormous spate of corruption and evil that stares at us daily, in offices, homes, schools and even the Church. Besides, be careful how you amass your wealth! Wealth ill-gotten will not only attract God's judgment, but such a man "shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool" (Jer 17:11). Never envy a man whose pockets are filled with ill-gotten wealth. He'll definitely pay for it and dearly too.

It needs to call your attention to the running spate of violence that we experience daily in Nigeria and the world over. Innocent blood, even that of children is being shed with reckless abandon, with the whole scenario depicted as if God is not seeing. All of this points to the fact that the cup of this generation is full before God. If we, with limited eyes and knowledge behold and cry against abominations perpetrated daily around us, how much more does God know, behold and lament over those that escape our finite knowledge?

Beware friend, if God spared not Sodom and Gomorrah, the sinners in the days of Noah, the rebellious angels, and even His only Begotten Son who sinned not, but willingly took upon  Himself our sins in order to be the propitiation for our sins, then, make no mistake about God's impending anger against all ungodliness.

Let this piece serve as a wake up call unto repentance before it becomes too late!

Have a blessed and a fruitful day.

PRAYER:

Dearest Heavenly Father, I repent of my sins. I receive grace to examine myself daily, in Jesus name.
