CHANGE IS POSSIBLE

SONG

Into my heart, into my heart.

Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

Come in today, come in to stay.

Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

 TEXT:

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17)

We sometimes fall into the trap of thinking we are the worst people on the face of the earth and that nobody does as many wrong things as we do or as we have done.

The truth is that Christ has settled it all on the Cross for you and I, but this is never a license for us to continue in our offenses.

A perfect example of the possibility of change is that of Ruth in the Bible. From her story we learn that we can change our position in life by the decision we make.

This young woman came to know the true God by marriage and with the help of her godly mother in-law Naomi, she became profoundly bound to her new found faith. The story of Ruth shows us how she was initially identified with a lower deity by birth. This served to impose on her a wrong destiny. In the long run, she met with the true God who brought total change to her life and destiny.

But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.” (Ruth chapter 1 verses 16 to 17).

She renounced the shackles of the lower deity for a better One, and by this very act she brought about a total change of destiny that bestowed divine blessings on her and also a change of eternal destination.

In the Bible reading for today, Apostle Paul makes us understand that it doesn't matter what you were, who gave birth to you, or what happened before you were born. The moment you received the Lord Jesus into your life, you became a new creation, with the attendant consequence that all things become new.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become" (Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17)

Many people are afraid of change, while others believe change is not possible. Yet the wonderful news is that we serve a God that is an unchangeable Changer.  Change is the key to spiritual life, growth and transformation. This change I'm talking about is not just about the change in our actions or appearances; but it relates to the change on the inside; it's a change that takes place in the heart.

How does this happen? It's by yielding ourselves totally to the Holy Spirit who is our Helper, and by Whose agency we are made anew in the first place. As we encounter Jesus, the Holy Spirit quickens us and makes us new creatures. He comes into us to indwell us for ever. It's by His ministry in us that we experience the much talked about new birth which consequently puts us forever on the path of truth and life.

PRAYER.

Thank You Holy Spirit for Your great work in my life. I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. Old things have passed away, behold, all things are entirely new, in Jesus name.
