PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust". 2 Pt 1:4

Lust is an inordinate desire to be, to do, and to have what God has prohibited; which would be ruinous and destructive to us were the desire to be granted. The book of James tells us that "... every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death" (James 1:14-15).

By the reason of the fall of man in the garden of Eden, man became a partaker of a sinful nature. Having therefore, become partakers of an earthly, sensual and devilish nature, it became necessary that God should act to restore man. The grand design of God through His Son, Jesus is to remove the consequence of man's fall and to restore him, making him a partaker of the divine nature; thereby, saving him from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

We can therefore sum up by saying that the object of all of God's promises and dispensations was to bring fallen man back to the image of God, which he had lost. This, indeed, is the sum of the essence of Christianity and the life to which God has called us through Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Bravo, therefore my friend for this is God's purpose and will for you. You must understand that since you came to Him through His Christ, you never remained the same again. You have become a new creation, old things have passed away, all things have become new (2 Cor 5:17). It's important that we know who we are in Christ. Sometimes, people need to be reminded of who they are in Christ Jesus. It's as if you never existed before. You are a brand new creature.

By the Cross of God's Son, He has cut off the old creation in order to bring in a new creation in Christ by resurrection from the dead. He has shut the door to that old kingdom of darkness and translated me into the kingdom of His dear Son (Col 1:13). My glory is in the fact that it has been done -- that, through the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ , that old world has "been crucified unto me, and I unto the world" (Gal 6:14). Water baptism is my public testimony to that fact. By it, as by my oral witness, my "confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10).

As you walk in this consciousness, you have a blessed life which is assured in CHRIST JESUS.

"For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God." - Galatians 6:15-16 (KJV)

The rule is that which is stated in Gal 6:15; and walking in the consciousness of the new creation that we now are (2Cor 5:17). There is a blessing pronounced upon them (peace and mercy).

PRAYER:

Thank You for bringing me into Christ Jesus. In Him, You made me a new creation, having taken away from me the old creature. As I function accordingly, I enjoy peace and mercy, in Jesus name.
