DOES GOD KNOW YOU TRUST IN HIM?

TEXT:

"The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." (Nahum 1 verse 7, King James Version).

God is the all-knowing God! There's absolutely nothing hidden from His gaze.

"I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Jeremiah 17 verse 10). Again, "for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts:" (1st Chronicles 28 verse 9).

There are those who have the notion that they can deceive or hide themselves from God. Ananias and Sapphira tried it and never lived to tell the story (Acts 5 verses 1 to 11). But why would a man think that he can deceive God? Such is the way of the man that knows not God, who erroneously assumes that God is a mortal man. Definitely, the Psalmist wasn't under such delusional intellection. Hear him in Psalms 139 verses 1 to 2:

"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off." Following such knowledge of his personality by the Lord, he concludes saying,

"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it." (Psalms 139 verse 6).

Does God know that you trust Him? Can the Lord, from the totality of your relationship with Him conclude unequivocally that you are among the lot that trust Him? In other words, can the Lord weigh you in the balances of faith and find you among the lot that will say like Job, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him." (Job 13 verse 15). Again, can you be the Apostle Peter of your generation that will, in the face of life's puzzles and difficulties say "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." (John 6 verse 68).

But what does it mean to trust God? According to Richard Fuller, it means that "You must stay upon the Lord; and come what may - winds, waves, cross-seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers - no matter what, you must lash yourself to the helm, and hold fast your confidence in God’s faithfulness, His covenant engagement, His everlasting love in Christ Jesus."

The Scripture reading for today says that "The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."  As Christians, we demonstrate our trust in the Lord by holding onto our faith in Him irrespective of adverse circumstances that might come our way in life. According to Prophet Nahum, once God knows you to be one that trusts Him, you become entitled to those benefits that accrue therefrom. First is that you become a partaker of His goodness. In addition to this, such a one will have Him for "a strong hold in the day of trouble". To have the Lord for a stronghold in these times we are, is to say the least, exhilarating. Make the Lord your unflinching trust and this beautiful reward is yours to enjoy, in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Lord, I trust You with all of my being. May I experience Your goodness and may You be my Stronghold in these times of trouble, in Jesus name.
