GOD, OUR PRESENT HELP AT A TIME LIKE THIS.

SONG.

You are my hiding place

You've always filled my heart with songs of deliverance whenever I am afraid.

I will trust in You, I will trust in You.

When the weak says,

I am strong in the strength of the Lord.

TEXT:

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalms 46 stanza 1).

There is always a time in every man's life that it becomes glaring that he can not do without God. The truth is that no one can actually do anything without God.

The Bible makes it clear to us that God is our refuge. Let us be reminded once again that our strength doesn’t come from us, neither is our stamina nor our drive. Our strength comes from the Lord! He is the rock that is higher than we are. When we run to His Word, we discover that His law is “our delight” and it protects and keeps us from discouragement, etc.

"Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction." (Psalms 119 stanza 92).

God is Rock that is stronger and higher than anything else.

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I." ( Psalms 61 stanza 2).

Most times, we can’t change all the stuff in our lives; they seem bigger than we can handle. But whatever seems bigger than us is still nothing to be compared to the Rock that is higher than we're, which Rock is Christ Jesus, the Lord! Hallelujah.

When we feel discouraged and flat-out, or overwhelmed, or seem unqualified, we must learn to run to God, who has the answer and solution to every question and problem of life. We have always had His Word at our disposal. Therefore, at every depressing or turbulent moment, we run to His Word.

When we run to God’s Word, we discover that just one verse can avail us the much needed solace or succor for our wearied souls. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble” (Psalms 46 stanza 1).

My advice is that in the face of troubles let's run into the strong arms of Jesus. He is our Strength. He is our Rock. He is our Refuge. God’s presence gives us the peace we need; so let us cultivate the habit of running to Him, that is our Rock, who’s ever waiting and ready to help  us on every side.

PRAYER:

Lord, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to You, my Rock. Guide me to Your Word, which gives me strength and refuge, in Jesus' mighty name.
