"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" - 1Pet.2.9 -
All true Christians are a chosen generation; we are marked as one family, distinct from the common world. We are of another Spirit, principle, and practice, which could never have been if we were not chosen in Christ to be such, and sanctified by his Spirit.
Being true servants of Christ, we are a royal priesthood, royal in our relation to God and Christ; princely separated from sin and sinners, consecrated to God, with spiritual services and acceptable to God through His Son Jesus Christ. It is a great privilege and honour to be servants of Christ and to be called God's peculiar people. We are the people of His acquisition, choice, care, and delight as the Bible rightly defines us: "ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;"
God has called us out of our first state which was a state of horrible darkness, into a state of marvellous light, joy, pleasure, and prosperity, with the purpose of showing forth His Praise by our words and actions. " … hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
God called Abraham in order to show forth His Praise. He made him an epitome of His Glory, showering His love upon him, so that others can see and get attracted unto Him. He extended Abraham from a family of two into a nation, not just a nation but a great nation. This is to demonstrate the Character of God. (Gen.12:1-3)
Jesus called ordinary fishermen; "And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." - Matt.4.19
Ordinary fishermen became renown people in their generations, even up till now their testimony is still being spoken of.
God raised up Joseph from the dungeon in the land of Egypt and made him; He set him with princes. "Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh...." - Gen.41.14. Hallelujah!
God hasn't changed as regards His attributes, He is specialized in raising the poor from the dust to princely position.
" He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill. That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people." - Psalm.113:7-8.
He has called us to extend us. If you did not know it before now, know it from today that He has not called you and I unto shame but unto His glory. Praise the Lord!
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for calling me out of the horrible darkness into Your marvelous Light. I bask in this beautiful estate in the name of Jesus.
