THE BENEFITS OF WAITING ON GOD (PART 2)

"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him." - Isaiah 64:4 (KJV).

God has glorious and wonderful things in stock for them that wait for Him. In spite of this, not everyone understands why waiting on God is needful. This may be because waiting may not seem an interesting exercise. There are primarily three reasons to wait on God:

    (1) Waiting For God's Timing.

This is the first reason why we have to wait on God. We have to wait on God and flow in what God is doing in any generation. God has His timing and His dispensation.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" - Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV). You have to discern the timing of God. We may be ready, God may be ready, but the timing of God may not yet be the best for the work. God does His work in the fullness of time, at which time, He makes everything to be in place and favorable. “God makes everything happen at the right time ... " (Ecc 3:11, CEV). “He has set the right time for everything ... " (Eccl 3:11,GNT). It's therefore wise to seek God's timing and to yield ourselves to wait on Him.

      (2) Waiting To Get Yourself Ready:

The second reason why we have to wait on God is that sometimes the time is ready, God is ready, but we are not ready. We are not ready most times because our faith level is little and falls far below what's required to do the work. Sometimes, it's because we are not ready as we are not trained and prepared to do what God is calling us to do. For this reason, the Lord will often wait for us to get matured and ready. That's what the Bible says:

"And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, ... blessed are all they that wait for him." - Isaiah 30:18 (KJV). Here, we see that God waits for us until we are matured in Him, so He may be gracious to us. Towards this end, He tells us to wait and to learn of Him, so that not only our faith will be built for the work, but that we may as well be fully trained and prepared.

   (3) Waiting To Get the World Ready:

Now, the third reason is that you are ready, God is ready but the world is not ready yet. A good example of where God is ready, we are ready, the world is not ready is found in Acts 16:6-8. “And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come opposite Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; so passing by Mysia they went down to Troas.

Here, they tried to go to two places Bithynia and Mysia, but the Holy Spirit forbade them. The Commission had been given. God was ready. Paul and Silas were ready, having been called and sent by the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:1-3). But Mysia and Bithynia were not ready. There is a time and a season for all things (Ecc 3:1). What did the Apostles do? They went to Troas and waited. And instead of sending them to Mysia and Bithynia He sent them over to Philippi in Macedonia. This was so because God knows the hearts of men and He knows that there is a time and a season to harvest them. So sometimes you are ready, God is ready but the world is not ready.

If you wish to see tremendous success in life, learn to wait on God, for He knows what time is best for what He's called you for. Waiting may be dragging and often times not palatable, but it's definitely rewarding! The Bible says that " ... they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31, KJV.

PRAYER:

Dearest Heavenly Father, I receive grace to wait patiently for the right time to do that which I seek to do, in Jesus' mighty name.
