WHY YOU NEED JESUS IN YOUR LIFE (PART 2)
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3 verse 23, King James Version).
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6 verse 23, King James Version).
The infallible Word of God has concluded all of humanity, you and me, under sin. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3 verse 23). This is a very serious charge because of its attendant consequence: "For the wages of sin is death; ... " (Romans 6 verse 23).
But how did we come about being sinners? Contrary to the common teaching on this issue, we are not sinners because we commit sins, but we sin because we are sinners. Scriptures reveal that we are sinners by constitution, rather than by action or what we do. Our being sinners is traceable to Adam. The Bible says in Romans 5 verse 19 that "For as by one man's disobedience many were made (or constituted) sinners," (King James Version). Another translation puts it thus: "Adam disobeyed God and caused many others to be sinners." (Contemporary English Version)
It's essentially because of what Adam had done and not because of what we do. The man Adam disobeyed God and his disobedience was imputed to us as our primogenitor!
Although, Romans 3 verse 23 speaks of what we have done -- "all have sinned"; but it is not because we have done it that we become sinners. This is the other aspect of it that we should know: We are sinners because our root is traceable to a man called Adam who was guilty of sinfulness and as his descendants, his sinfulness is imputed to us. Through him, we inherited our sinful nature which propels us to commit sins.
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5 verse 12).
One who sins is a sinner, but it is equally true that one who does not sin, as long as he is of Adam's race, is a sinner too, and is therefore in need of redemption through Jesus Christ.
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive" (1st Corinthians 15 verse 22).
Sometimes, we think that if only we had not done certain things all would be well; but the trouble lies far deeper than in what we do: it basically lies in who we are. By nature, we are sinners and this is because of our Adamic ancestry. I am not a sinner because I sin, but I sin because I come from the wrong stock, the Adamic stock. In other words, I sin because I am by nature a sinner.
Again, before God, it's not about one being a bad sinner and the other being a moderate sinner; but that we "are all under sin" (Romans 3 verse 9). Again, it's written, "all have sinned" (Romans 3 verse 23, Romans 5 verse 12), "and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3 verse 23). As "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6 verse 23), man therefore is in dire need of redemption. This is our dire state!
It is imperative for us to understand our desolate and bleak state before God. Let me repeat myself: ‘that the people of the world today do not need to do anything to cause them to perish’. No one is required to steal or kill in order to perish; nor by not stealing or otherwise will any be spared from destruction. The entire world is cursed and is under His judgment! Why? Because it lies in the power of the evil one (see John 12 verse 31, John 14 verse 30; 2nd Corinthians 4 verse 4). But through Jesus Christ, God’s desire is to pull you out from among the perishing. The question begging for an answer is, are you in the number?
Can you now understand why you need Jesus in your life?
God is taking pains to show us that we are fundamentally wrong and in need of redemption. He's followed further by raising up men like us to spread the Good News.
Whether by our sinful nature or by our sinful actions, humanity is in enmity with God and is in need of reconciliation (Colossians 1 verse 21). As a remedy thereof, Scriptures reveal that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus, our Lord (John 3 verse 16, Romans 6 verse 23).
Jesus the Son of God is humanity's escape Route from eternal damnation. He came to reconcile us with God (Romans 5 verse 10). Jesus came and by His sacrifice, He dealt with the dual problems of sin (being what we are) and sins (being the product of what we are).
Whilst our sins are dealt with by His shed Blood (Ephesians 1 verse 7; Colossians 1 verse 14), our sin is dealt with by His Cross (Romans 5 verse 10; Galatians 6 verse 14; Colossians 1 verses 21 to 22). The Blood procures our pardon for what we have done; the Cross procures our deliverance from what we are. Hallelujah!

Dearest Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus Christ. I receive Him into my life today. Thank You for forgiving my sins and for saving me from eternal damnation, in Jesus name.
