WHY HAS GOD NOT ANSWERED YOUR PRAYER? (PART 5)

TEXT:

"Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: ... " (Deuteronomy 11 verse 24, King James Version).

All along, in these series, we are trying to figure out why people don't receive answers to their prayer in spite of Jesus’ statement in Matthew 7 verse 8, saying that "every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

In Part 4 of this series, we talked about faith as a tool with which we can pull and receive what's already existing as a promise from God in the realm of the spirit into the physical for our enjoyment.

Today, we are going to see yet another tool, how with our mouths we can talk our way into the fulfillment of God's promises in our lives.

For instance, in the Old Testament, God had made a promise to give to Israel the land of Canaan for a possession (Exodus 3 verses 8 and 17; Deuteronomy 32 verse 49; Psalms 105 verse 11; 1st Chronicles 16 verse 18). But in Deuteronomy 11 verse 24; we see God stating to Moses the term and condition for possessing that promise.

"Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: ... " (Deuteronomy 11 verse 24).

Later, we see the same term or condition given to Moses repeated by God unto Joshua, saying:

"Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses" (Joshua 1 verse 3). Much later, Caleb reaffirmed it in Joshua 14 verse 9.

This is to mean that the eventual possession of the promised land was hinged on or was subject to their walking through it. If the soles of their feet didn't tread upon it to possess it, it remained simply a promise, never to be fulfilled.

Under the NT dispensation, Jesus Christ has fulfilled every of God's prophecy or promise to us and the confession (talk) of His finished work is given to us just as walking through the promised land was given to Israel as a precondition for possessing it.

The picture of this was given in the old testament. When there was need for water, God instructed Moses to smite the Rock to give water to Israel in Exodus 17 verses 5 to 7. When later the need arose, God requested him to simply speak to the Rock to provide water for the people (Numbers 20 verses 7 to 11). God was showing us here that He would get things done for us later in life by the mere act of speaking to our life’s situations.

As we pray confessing God's Word, we catapult ourselves through the length and the breadth of God’s blessings or promises to possess them. In the OT, if you were not there with your feet treading thereon, you won’t get it. So also in the NT, your mouth becomes the instrument to deliver God's promises to you.

"For  by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." (Matthew 12 verse 37).

"with the mouth confession is made unto salvation", the Bible says in Romans 10 verse 10.

Again, we have it stated that "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;" (2nd Corinthians 4 verse 13).

Truth is, you may believe God's Word and yet not have it fulfilled in your life. This is so because with the heart we believe God's Word (Romans 10 verse 10). But with our mouths, we must confess what we believe. In other words, if you believe what God has said about you, it's imperative also that you say (confess) it with your mouth (2nd Corinthians 4 verse 13). Otherwise, it remains simply a promise, never to be fulfilled.

The Bible encourages us to be bold to say what God has said (Hebrews 13 verse 6); never to let His Word to depart from our mouths if we are to experience prosperity and good success in life (Joshua 1 verse 8). Doing that makes us to be on the same page and direction with God regarding our lives.

"Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?" (Amos 3 verse 3, New Living Translation).

If God said it, you must confess it in order to receive it. Otherwise, it remains simply a promise never to be fulfilled!

In summary, one of the tools by which we receive from God is by confessing what He's said about us or rather, what He's done for us in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER:

Dear Father, I believe in Your promises and the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ. By confessing them over my life's situation, I experience total victory, in Jesus name.
