WHAT KIND OF VESSEL ARE YOU?

SONG

Make me,Your instrument O Lord.

Make me,Your instrument O Lord.

Instrument of Your peace.

To pull down and to build up

Use me, O Lord, as a vessel unto honor

Use me, O Lord, as a vessel unto honor.

My God. Hallelujah!

TEXT

"But in a great house, there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a utensil God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. " - 2Tim.2.20 -21, [NLT]

The Church of Christ is a perfect example of a great house, a well-furnished house; and there are different categories of furniture in this house with a diversity of values as well. There are also different kinds of plates in this house. Some are of great value, which are meant for special uses, as vessels of gold and silver, some of small value, and put to mean uses, as the vessels of wood and earth; so it is in the Church of God.

Now we should see to it that we are vessels of honor: we must purge ourselves from corrupt ways and opinions in order that we may be sanctified for our Master's use.

Some dishonor the church by their wicked life styles and corrupt opinions; while others bring honor and creditable testimonies to the Church by their exemplary life styles, thoughts and conversations.

For any man to be fit for the Master's use, he must purge or separate himself from the things that do not bring glory to God. This is what qualifies him to be a vessel of honor. Ideally, the aim and aspiration of every vessel is to be fit for its Master's use. In the same vein, everyone in the church should aspire to be fit for the Master's use and service.

Sanctification of the heart is a way of preparation for every good work.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." - Ps.51.17.

In order to be fit for the Master's use, we've got to be broken. God never uses anybody to a large degree, unless and until after He gets him broken.

Like the example of a corn that has to fall into the soil and die, so it is necessary for every usable vessel in God's Hand to be broken.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit" - John.12.24.

Those who are broken in character, broken in wealth, broken in self-will, broken in their ambitions, and broken in their beautiful ideals, are usually the perfect materials fit for the Master's use. Are you such that you struggle with the Lord as He takes you through the school of life that's designed to break and bring out the best in you? Until you submit to Him, and let Him have His way, you'll never qualify for a vessel of honor, ready for the Master's use!

PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, I beseech You to purge me and make me fit for my Master's use for every good work in Jesus Mighty name.
