WHY YOU NEED JESUS IN YOUR LIFE (PART 5)

"But I thank God, who always leads us in victory because of Christ. Wherever we go, God uses us to make clear what it means to know Christ. It’s like a fragrance that fills the air." - 2 Cor 2:14, GW

Satan poses as the arch enemy of man and is known to be behind almost all of his problems. It is a settled fact that almost every man's dilemma in life is traceable to him. Through his oppressions and manipulations, many are at his mercy and captivity. But Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil (1 Jn 3:8). Jesus overcame and defeated the devil, and that victory becomes ours the moment we receive Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. The Holy Scriptures are replete with the truth of satan's overwhelming and permanent defeat by the Lord Jesus Christ for us (Jn 16:33, 1Jn 3:8, 5:4-5, Col 2:10,15, Heb 2:14-15).

The enemy’s defeat is already a fact, and as a child of God, you have been equipped to keep him defeated at all times.

According to 2 Cor 2:4, Jesus triumphed over all the forces of darkness and His triumph is our triumph because we are in Him (1 Cor 1:30).

The Conybeare translation puts 2 Cor 2:14  much better, saying:

"But thanks be to God who leads me on from place to place in the train of His triumph, TO CELEBRATE HIS VICTORY OVER THE ENEMIES OF CHRIST [demons]."

Everywhere we go and about everything that concerns us, our lives as Christians should be a celebration of Christ's victory over the devil and his cohorts. The Bible says,

"And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." - Colossians 2:15 (KJV). This is Jesus' victory over the kingdom of darkness in its entirety. The good news is that of Christ's fullness, we have received and grace for grace (Jn 1:16). In Col 2:10, we are said to be complete in Him who's the Head of all principality and power. The meaning of this is that having received Jesus into your life, and as a God carrying vessel, your humanity has been supplanted by God's divine nature. By Jesus' resurrection from the dead, God proclaimed His Son victor over the whole realm of darkness. The ground Christ won He has given to us so that our life has passed from the ordinary to the supernatural; to the end that we should be a celebration of Christ's victory over the devil and the entire kingdom of darkness.

As overcomers, we rest in the victory already given to us in Christ Jesus. We fight from the position of victory. We do not fight to obtain victory, but rather, like as an occupying force, Jesus said to us, "occupy till I come" (Lk 19:13). He fought to get the victory, but we "stand" to enforce His victory over the kingdom of darkness (Eph 6:11,13,14). Jesus conquered for us, but what really makes us to be "more than conquerors" (Rom 8:37) is that we not only win the battle against the enemy, but we actually come out of it with more than we had when we went into it. This is courtesy of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!

What I've just shared with you pertains only to those that have received Jesus into their lives. They give thanks to God continually for leading them in victory because of Christ, so that wherever they go, God uses them to make clear what it means to know Christ. It’s like a fragrance that fills the air (2Cor 2:14).

But to them that are without Christ (Eph 2:12), it's a different story altogether. Such are they that are in the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will (2 Timothy 2:26) and are defenseless against his wiles (Eph 6:11) and the fiery darts of the wicked (6:16).

Would you like to receive Christ into your life, so that this privilege of supernatural victory over the kingdom of darkness, courtesy of being in Christ, can be replicated constantly in your life? Perhaps, the devil is already at work in your life and you wish to be set free! If so, pray this simple prayer with me.

PRAYER:

Dearest Heavenly Father, for those in Christ, You have made victory over the kingdom of darkness a done deal, courtesy of Jesus, Your Son. I repent of my sins, I confess Him as my Lord and Savior. Henceforth, I live and walk in complete victory over the devil and his cohorts, in Jesus name.
