WAIT UPON GOD.

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" - Isa 40:31.

What a scripture! To wait upon the Lord is a rewarding venture. The Lord ensures that such as wait on Him are not disappointed. He renews their strength and they come forth better!

We are in so much hurry that we miss the bounty that follows when we allow God to work for us! For sure, God will not demand that we "wait"  or be "still", if He has nothing to do for us. So many of us think that to be Christian is all about work, work, work for God. Nay! On the contrary, God also has some marvelous work to do in and for us. Phil 2:13 says that "...  it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. "... We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus ...", the Bible says (Eph 2:10) See also Phil 1:6; Num 23:23; Heb 13:21; 1 Cor. 12:6; 1 Cor. 15:10 for Scriptures on God working in us.

Therefore, if God is at work in or for us, care must be taken not to resist Him by grieving Him - Eph 4:30 or by quenching Him - 1 Thess 5:19  or vex/rebel against Him - Isa 63:10. Doing so serves to resist or oppose God. This accounts for the reason God had to put Adam to sleep, so He could fashion out Eve from his rib - Gen 2:21. The deep sleep that God put Adam in was to make him to be "still". When God is out to do a great work in our lives,  it is sometimes necessary to put us out of action or activity by putting us to stillness. Apart from putting Adam to sleep in order to bring forth Eve, He also made Israel to be quiet, but to give a shout at the appropriate time in the battle of Jericho. What God intended to do for Israel was very marvelous and He didn't want Israel to hinder Him with their faithless utterances; so He commanded them to say nothing, to be quiet, but to sound the trumpet and give a shout on the last day after they had compassed the wall of Jericho the seventh time on the seventh day - Jos 6:1-5.

God says "Be still and know that I am God:"  - Ps 46:10. It's in our obedience to God's command to be still or to wait on Him that we see Him work out His marvelous work in and for us. Hallelujah!

To compare the enormity of God's work with our work is akin to comparing the brightness of the Sun with that of a lighted candle! God's ability far exceeds man's ability.

This is why the Bible says that God does for us exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think ( Eph 3:20)

Let's therefore be sensitive to God's call for us to be still or to wait on Him. At such times of waiting, we definitely would experience drudgery and little pleasure in waiting, for by man's nature, he is restive and a workaholic. But allowing God to work in or for us far exceeds what we can ever do, because He is One that is "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, ... " - Ephesians 3:20. Praise the Lord!

Have a good day.

PRAYER:

Dearest Heavenly Father, I wait on you no matter what it takes to do so, knowing that you are at work on my behalf. This shall turn out for my testimony, in Jesus name.
