THE MOST SECURE PLACE

SONG

I have found my resting place in Him

I have found my resting place in Him.

TEXT

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:" - Matthew chapter 6 verses 19 to 20

These verses are telling us figuratively that a Heavenly focused life is the best of lives that everyone should aim at. In other words, let all we do be done, having Heaven as our goal.

There’s no better place for anyone to keep anything than in the hands of God. Let's learn to willingly give ourselves and all about us unconditionally, unreservedly, and unequivocally to God. This is when we can be said to have submitted ourselves to Him, which is a requirement that comes before we can successfully resist the devil.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James chapter 4 verse 7)

Lack of submission has been a problem with so many Christians. With respect to God, it depicts the absence or the lack of trust in the Lord's ability to satisfy our yearnings and aspirations. The Bible admonishes in Psalms chapter 37 verse 5 saying,

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." In God's dealing with man, His faithfulness has never been in doubt:

"Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." (1st Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 24). Submitting to God is the key to finding and living in His will, which in turn secures our peace.

Towards this end, the Lord Jesus opened Himself to us saying, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew chapter 11 verse 28). It's only in Christ that we can find true rest for our souls. Truth is, nothing else, no one else can give us the true rest that we need in life.

Many still find it difficult to entrust their lives to Jesus. Today, they receive Him, tomorrow, they flow out of Him. This is a very wrong thing to do. My  prayer for those reading the devotional this morning is that each day of our lives, we would run to God with everything we have, including our souls and say, “Lord, it’s all yours. I don’t ever want to hold onto anything". Make that your goal today and you'll never know turbulence in life, in Jesus name.

PRAYER

I surrender all I have unto You LORD, including my soul, that You keep, protect, and preserve even unto the coming of Christ, in Jesus Mighty name.
