THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S
SONG
You are the mighty man in battle.
El-Shadai, you are the mighty man in battle, Jehovah-Nisi, you are the mighty man in battle, glory to your name.
TEXT : 2Chron 20:12(b),15(b)
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” - 2 Chronicles 20:12b (NIV)
"Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” - 2 Chronicles 20:15b, NIV).
The book of 2 Chronicles is an amazing story of the ancient Israeli King Jehoshaphat of Judah, a dedicated child of God.
When he heard about three fierce armies coming to attack his kingdom, he responded amazingly with faith.
Scripture tells us, “2Chr.20.3 - And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah."
He did not fret over the invading armies of three different mighty nations; rather, he resorted to seek the face of God with a fast to know what to do.
How can you and I graciously respond to these kinds of hardship and not give in to fear?
There is a great lesson to learn from the people of Judah who
chose to trust the power and promises of the Lord.
When Jehoshaphat and his kingdom were confronted with an overwhelming challenge, they prayed instead of worrying. They removed their eyes off the problem onto the ultimate Problem-Solver!
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” - 2 Chronicles 20:12b (NIV)
Although they didn’t know what to do, they were unshaken and filled with God’s inexplicable peace as they walked in faith (Psalm 16:8)
God answered King Jehoshaphat — by saying, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For, the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15b, NIV).
What is that battle before you my brother or sister?
God is saying to you now. "Do not be afraid, or dismayed because of the vast opposition and forces. For the battle is not yours but God's." Hallelujah 🙌
2Chr.20.21 - "And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever."
And they chose to fight with an unusual weapon: Praises!
Now see what God did to Jehoshaphat’s enemies:
“As [the appointed men] began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated” (2 Chronicles 20:22, NIV).
Start by praising God for who He is, then rest in the fact that the Creator of the Universe goes before you to help tackle whatever problem that stands in front of you; and you are in for a testimony, in Jesus name. 🙏 🙏 🙏
PRAYER
Lord, I praise You for Your power. I need only to look to You, because You will go before me and fight my battles. Please forgive me for the times I took my eyes off You and became shaken and fearful. Help me to step out in faith, knowing You go before me, in Jesus’ Name, Amen..
