TEXT
"And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moah, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten." - 2nd Chronicles 20:22.
There is power in praise. There is an adage in Yoruba that says. God does not eat pounded yam, neither does He eat amala nor eat rice. What He eats is praise and worship. When we sing praises to God, we invite Him into our affairs and His presence brings abundant success.
It's been said that anyone that sing praises, prays twice. In other words, praise does much more than what prayers can do.
From where we have read, we discovered that it was at the point when the people of Judah began to praise God that the LORD set ambushments against their enemies and destroyed them.
Also in the book of Acts 16:25-26, the Bible says "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed."
The Apostles were locked up in the prison for preaching the gospel. They were probably waiting to face severe punishment thereafter. They refused to give in to discouragement; rather, they chose to praise God who is able to save them that put their trust in Him.
Let me share a personal experience with you. There was a particular need we had in the family. After we had prayed about it for a couple of months, we decided to praise God thenceforth. Within a few weeks thereafter, the answer came. Praise God!
Have you prayed and prayed and waited and waited, and still there's no answer from God? Are you tired of seeing nothing moving in your life? Are you just at the point of giving it all up? Are you so disturbed, seeing others moving forward? Perhaps you have been waiting for an answer to your request, and you are at the same point from year to year? Do you think that God has forgotten you?
Why not try praises? Praising God ahead of your miracle is a sign of faith in God. He loves it! On the other hand, praising Him for what He has done is a sign of gratitude and an opportunity to receive more from Him.
Has the Lord been gracious to
you, and inclined His ear to the voice of your supplication? Then praise him as long as you live!
Deny not a song to Him who has answered your prayer and given you the desire of your heart. To be silent over God’s mercies is to incur the guilt of ingratitude!
PRAYER
I will praise Him from everlasting, everlasting to everlasting. I will praise Him from everlasting everlasting to everlasting.
