INTRODUCTION
Going through the Bible, we have come across a puzzling connection between our salvation from sin and the healing of our sicknesses. Our startling discovery is that once sin is dealt with, sickness is stated to be dealt with also. For instance, in Psalms 103 stanza 2 and 3, we have it stated thus:
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;". Again, in Isaiah chapter 53 verse 5, the same sentiment is expressed thus:
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Further, in Isaiah chapter 33 verse 24, speaking of Zion, the Bible says,
"And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity."
(See also Matthew chapter 9 verse 6; Mark chapter 2 verse 10; Luke chapter 5 verse 24 and 1st Peter chapter 2 verse 24)
The picture that is clearly painted here for us to behold is that from both sin and sickness, we have redemption through the blood that was shed and the stripes borne by Jesus for us. Remember always that, when the Scriptures spoke of sin and sickness, they are both spoken of as evils from which the Lord Jesus came to deliver us. To sum up, God wants to heal all who are sick just the same way as He's eager to save all who are sinful.
For you to experience divine healing, you have to come to terms with the fact that as far as God is concerned every of our sicknesses and infirmities have been healed in Christ Jesus. I make bold to say this in other words that in Christ Jesus, healing is no longer a promise, but it's become reality, a done deal!
I was ministering to a woman recently and I told her that God wasn't going to heal her of her disease. She couldn't believe hearing that from me until I explained to her what I meant. You see, healing for us in Christ is no longer a promise. It's already become a stark reality. For instance, while prophet Isaiah in chapter 53 verses 4 to 5 saw our healing as a promise, apostle Peter on the other hand saw it already accomplished by Christ; and soon thereafter, he spoke of it in the past tense saying,
"by whose stripes ye were healed." (1st Peter chapter 2 verse 24).
This statement of apostle Peter is having in view what happened in Herod's judgment hall. The Lord Jesus Christ, on His way to the Cross at Golgotha, took those stripes on His back. (see Matthew chapter 27 verse 26). Truth is Jesus isn't healing people today. He already healed everyone over two thousand years ago. But today, it's necessary to believe and accept what He's done before you can see it manifest in your situation.
For those of us seeking divine healing, 1st Peter chapter 2 verse 24 is the fourth Scripture for confession in this series.
We've spoken much already about it. For emphasis sake, it says,
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
Therefore, as a Christian, you do not have to wait for God to heal you of your sickness. You must believe that He already has done it. So says Apostle Peter as already noted in 1st Peter chapter 2 verse 24. Having accomplished our healing in Christ, God is rather the One waiting for you to accept the healing He has provided for you in His Son. That's why in Isaiah chapter 30 verse 18, the Bible says,
"And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you,"
Do you know that the Lord would have saved you long before He did, but He had to wait until you believed and accepted His Son as Lord and Savior? In the same vein, don't you know that He would have healed you as soon as you took ill had you given Him the chance? The truth is that the Lord must wait until you believe and accept that He's laid on Jesus your sicknesses and infirmities before you can take the benefit of divine healing in Christ Jesus. Your failing to do so will simply serve to delay your healing.
Brethren, we've got to understand this. It's therefore sheer foolishness to delay our healing. If you are sick, I urge you to claim your healing right away, confessing as follows:
CONFESSION
Thank You dear Lord Jesus for receiving stripes on Your Body for me. By Your stripes, I am completely healed of sicknesses and diseases (name the sickness) in my body, in Jesus name
