LET US RETURN UNTO OUR GOD. (Part 3)

SONG

I have found my resting place in Him

I have found my resting place in Him.

TEXT

"And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee." (Luke 15 verses 17-18 17 to18).

Ever before the prodigal son decided to return home, the father had always looked forward to his return. The Bible says in the book of Luke 15 verse 20, "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."

The love and care of the Father for him never diminished a little bit. Despite all the pains he caused his father, he still loved him with an everlasting love. It's the same case with our God. When we mess up, our heavenly Father patiently waits for us to turn back to Him. He accepts our repentance, rejoices in our return, and restores our intimacy with Him  again. Hallelujah!

GOD is always and ever waiting for the home coming of the backslidden son.

Our being far from God will only result in ugly experiences, disasters, and regrets. The prodigal son had it very rough for being far from his father until he came back to himself.

"And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!" (Luke 15 verse 17).

Ordinary servants that kept close contact and  fellowship with the father had a beautiful life, with enough to eat and to spare.

When we keep close contact and fellowship with God and seek His face, He will be found by us. On the other hand, our close contact with a fellow man may, after a short while, result in him growing weary of us and leaving us eventually. This is not so with our God who loves us endlessly.

The nearer we come to God, the more gracious He will be to us and the more He will reveal Himself to us. When the prodigal son returned, his father ran to meet him and poured on him so much love.

PRAYER.

Thank you Heavenly Father for Your unending love toward me. No matter how far I've gone, Your arms are widely opened to receive me in Jesus' Mighty name.
