LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF KING DAVID, (PART 5).

TEXT:

"...Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David..." (1st Samuel 16 verses 12 to 13, New International Version).

Today, we're going to consider one aspect of the effects of the anointing of the Spirit of God upon a man, using the example of king David. I've always known that the anointing of the Spirit God upon a life has a tremendous impact on that life, causing the one anointed to be of significant value, amongst other things, in the eyes of men.

In the case of king Saul, the Bible records that prophet Samuel told him that once the Holy Spirit came upon him, that he would "be turned into another man" (see 1st Samuel 10 verse  6). One thing that the anointing of the Spirit of God does for the one anointed is that he becomes endowed with God's own very ability to enable him to do things extraordinarily. So, he literally becomes "another man".

In the case of David, from the Scripture reading for today we are told that prophet Samuel "anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David...". This is of tremendous significance because later, we are informed that David was chosen out of all the Israelites to play his harp before king Saul so that he might be healed from the torment he was experiencing from an evil spirit that was plaguing him (see 1st Samuel 16 verses 14 to 18).

The Bible says that one of king Saul's servants had recommended David for the job because according to him, David was "cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him." (see 1st Samuel 16 verse 18). This was the impact of the anointing of God's Spirit upon his life. There was no way that David would be anointed and would be hidden.

Like I said, this is one of the effects of the anointing of the Spirit of God upon a life. With the anointing of God's Spirit upon David, God's Strength and Power or Ability came upon him, so much that thencefrom, he couldn't be hidden anymore. The anointing of God's Spirit upon David so worked on him that He brought him to the palace where he was destined to be. The same principle is true with everyone of God's children. Once you have begun to seek the Lord and as a result, He releases His anointing upon your life, you become like a cork that floats on top of the water, though men work tirelessly to put you down on the bottom of the lake or river. With God's anointing upon your life, it doesn't matter what men do against you. Like the oil, you're destined for the top of the water, irrespective of what is done against you, whether in life or in ministry. You will always rise to the surface. This is the result of the anointing upon your life.

The anointing on a man's life serves to literally put him ahead of others. You can't be anointed and remain a dummy. No! Not at all! The anointing causes you to be located because His impact on what you do becomes evidently significant, so much that others get to notice you quickly because you no longer function at the base level of men.

The case of Samson beginning from Judges chapter 13 to 16 shows the impact of the anointing of God's Spirit upon him. He became the strongest man of his time. This was the result of the anointing of God's Spirit upon his life. Again, the Bible says of Stephen in Acts 6 verse 10 that those around him "were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake." This was the result of God's Spirit upon his life.

God has a way of finding the one that seeks Him. Once you present yourself as that person, He will pass over the host around you in your country, State and City to locate you. Once He locates you, He releases His anointing upon you that will cause you to be drawn to the top for all to behold, in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Lord, here am I, locate me and anoint me to be a blessing to my generation, in Jesus name.
