JESUS IS COMING BACK VERY SOON (PART 2)
TEXT:
"Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book." (Revelation 22 verse 7, King James Version).
To very many people, the Idea of the nonexistence of God is very rife, especially considering the way they live their lives To such people, the existence of the Person and the Mission of Jesus, the Son of God as the Saviour of the world is like a fairy tale and one never to be taken seriously. This is so in spite of the fact that the truth about God and His Son is copiously taught in the Gospel. The reason for their unbelief is that satan, the god of this world has hid the Gospel truth from these people. These are people that the Scripture has described as "lost", because satan has blinded their minds not to believe, "lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2nd Corinthians 4 verses 3 to 4).
The Holy Bible has been given to us by God to believe and to do in order to experience salvation. It's therefore the responsibility of every one to whom the Gospel has been preached to believe it and to do as it demands. This is the path-way to the blessed life that men have so longed and sought after.
In the Scripture reading for today, the Lord Jesus reaffirmed His soon coming. According to the Amplified Classics, Revelation 22 verse 7 says,
"And behold, I am coming speedily. Blessed (happy and to be envied) is he who observes and lays to heart and keeps the truths of the prophecy (the predictions, consolations, and warnings) contained in this [little] book."
The coming of the Lord referred to in this verse as in many others in the Bible is His second coming. Now, if there's a second coming, obviously, there was a first coming. His first coming was when He was born in a Manger in Bethlehem (see Luke 2 verse 7). This second coming is when He will return in the clouds (see Daniel 7 verse 13; Mark 13 verse 26; Revelation 1 verse 7). For those who don't believe in Jesus' second coming, understand that like His first coming was prophesied and it came to pass, so also is His second coming variously prophesied in the Holy Scriptures, which will equally come to pass (Matthew 24 verse 35; Acts 1 verses 10 to 11). So, don't be fooled, but believe!
As we await the Lord's second coming, one of the things that believers are to be engaged with is the keeping of the saying of the prophecy of the Bible. This is because the Bible says that "blessed (happy and to be envied) is he who observes and lays to heart and keeps the truths of the prophecy (the predictions, consolations, and warnings) contained in this [little] book.", the Holy Bible. (Revelation 22 verse 7, Amplified Classics Version).
If you desire to be "happy and envied" at Christ's second coming, keep the sayings of the Holy Bible. Towards this end, we need to pray for grace to not only hear, but to do what the Word says because when the Lord Jesus comes as He has promised, He's going to justify not the hearers of the Word, but the doers thereof (Romans 2 verse 13, James 1 verses 22 to 25).
PRAYER:
Dear Lord Jesus, I receive grace to hear and do God's Word as I await Your second coming, so help me Father, in Jesus name.
