HOPE FOR THE LIVING.
SONG
Through it all, through it all
I've learnt to trust in Jesus
I've learnt to trust in God.
Through it all, through it all
I've learnt to depend upon theLord
TEXT
“Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.” (Psalms 66 stanza 12)
In the previous message, we deliberated on the verse of the Bible that says "For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion." (Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verse 4).
There is indeed a greater hope for the one that is alive, than the one that has crossed the rubicon, that is to the land of no return.
It's very true that so many of us have gone through the thick and the thin in life. It is also true that we have endured many trials, but God was with us through all. He did not allow us to be swallowed up in the midst of all the chaotic situations that we've been through. The Bible affirms God saying,
"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isaiah chapter 43 verse 2)
In all, it would be wicked on our part to forget that it was by the mercy of God that we made it through. In other words, we can attest to the fact that it is by His grace and mercy that we are alive to tell the story.
When we take a look back at the beginning of our lives, we see God's faithfulness and mercy all through. It will be very wrong of us to deny God’s graciousness towards us. In this regard, we should be thankful for all that God has done for us, so that we might enjoy more.
From today's Scripture reading, we see that it did not augur well with the Psalmist at the beginning, but God came through for him and he was thankful.
Also we can see in the book of Psalms 40 stanzas 2 to 3 that it is said as follows:
"He hath brought me up out of an horrible pit, and out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings: and he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God..."
Our God is known to be full of compassion and mercy. Through the difficult moments of our lives, He will always give room for us to praise Him. Glory be to God Almighty!
For someone reading the devotional this morning, God is bringing you out of the horrible pit and putting a new song in your mouth and many will come and sing it with you, in Jesus' Mighty name.
PRAYER
Thank You Heavenly Father for Your compassion and mercy towards me in every situation of my life. I know my testimony is coming forth, in Jesus' Mighty name
