GOD'S WORD IS LIKE A COMPASS.

SONG

Jesus, show me the way. I am ready to follow.

TEXT:

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119 verse 105)

As expressly stated in the Scripture reading for today, we find God's Word as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."; says Psalm 119 stanza 105.

As we yield unto the Lord, His Word serves to illuminate the dark areas of our lives. It also enables us to find solace and as someone has opined, God's Word is like a compass as well as a love letter to us His children. By it, our ways are directed, our faith is built, and our emotions are straightened to conform to God's will for us.

As we immerse ourselves in the teachings of the Word of God; through moments of reading, study, meditation, and reflection, we learn to discern His guidance. Besides, through fellowship with other believers, we share with one another our different understandings of God's Word, thus giving us better and much more fruitful insights into God's will for us. This can also serve as an avenue of encouragement to one another, aside from making us walk in God's truth. Hear what Hebrews 10 verse 25 has to say "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

The general purpose for fellowship is maturity in the faith. God's desire for us is to attain spiritual maturity. With this in mind, it is expedient that we find moments of stillness and fellowship with the Word amidst the busyness of each day of our lives. This will enable us to find out His direction for us in life, amongst other things. Just as Jesus would take some time to go to the mountains to pray (see Mark 1 verse 35), we too can create time to commune with our Lord and to seek His guidance in life. At such sacred moments, we lay bare our burdens and we open our ears to hear what He has to tell us.

The greatest damage one can do to himself or herself is to neglect the Word of God. It's good and advisable to make the Word of God the standard for living and to have it as the basis of one's activities in life.

For you to succeed in life as a child of God, you must have a constant recurring recourse to the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Towards this end, I counsel that we take time to build a living fellowship relationship with the Lord through His Word.

PRAYER:

Precious Father, I thank You for Your Word. By it, every darkness in my life is lighted up, in Jesus Mighty name.
