TEXT
"And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear...But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke.8 verses 8 to 15)
Considering this parable, a sower went to the field to sow his seed. Some fell by the wayside, some upon stony places, and some among thorns. Yet, others fell upon good ground and brought forth fruit.
This is a clear picture of what we see around us. There are different categories of people in the Church and in the World at large. The different soils represent the hearts and mindsets of people. In today's message, we will be focusing on the seed that fell in the good soil.
The Bible says, "But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience." (Luke.8 verse 15)
The crucial question to everyone that is called a Christian is, how do you receive the Seed of God's Word into your heart? Does your heart receive God's Word, bringing forth fruit; or is the Word of God in your heart stifled, making it unfruitful?
One basic truth we must know and understand is that the heart is like a garden and that being so, its condition is of utmost importance to us, even as we run this Heavenly race. The Scripture directs the Child of God in the Book of Proverbs 4 verse 23 saying, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
What this verse is saying is that as God's Children, we are to take conscious steps to protect and preserve our hearts from unwholesome thoughts. Instead, we are to fill the heart with God's Word and thoughts (Colossians 3 verse 16).
The crucial question that begs for answer is whether we have consciously kept our hearts open and receptive to God's Word in order to be found fruitful and faith filled. Or rather, have we left it hardened and unresponsive to God's Word, so that it's eventually found to be unproductive and spiritually barren?
The next question is, what are those issues that are choking the growth of your faith? Are there burdens that are weighing heavily upon your spirit mind, preventing the light of His Word from shining through?
Be of good cheer, because God has the solution for everything. All you need to do is to make God's Word your inseparable companion, and by doing so, taking concerted steps to inundate your heart therewith.
According to 1st Timothy 4 verse 15,
"Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all." (American Standard Version)
