DOUBLE HONOR IN PLACE OF SHAME.
SONG:
I'm standing upon the Rock
I'm standing upon the Rock
I'm standing upon the Rock
Jesus is the Rock
TEXT:
"Instead of shame and dishonor, you will inherit a double portion of prosperity and everlasting joy." (Isaiah chapter 61 verse 7, New Living Translation)
It can sometimes be hard for one to understand why he or she is going through some challenges in life. One may be tempted to ask questions why things are the same from year to year, without improvement, despite all the labor. As a result, such a person may face humiliation. The word humiliation literally means to reduce someone to a lower position in one's own eyes or others' eyes; to make someone ashamed or embarrassed. In other words, it means to suffer insults.
Humiliation can lead to disrespect, which can also result in reducing a man's estimation of himself, thereby making Him feel worthless and valueless in the eyes of others. It comes in different ways, such as taking a person for granted, denying someone of his or her rights or facing disgrace from people who feel they are superior to others.
Many of us Christian have suffered such ordeals, times without numbers. It is not that we have done anything wrong in particular to warrant all the allegations or embarrassments, but because we have chosen to be identified with Christ Jesus.
We may have endured some moments of trials and discouragements, but it is equally true that through the Lord's help, we have been delivered out of them.
Jesus, for instance, never did anything wrong to earn Himself all the shame and humiliation He went through in life. If this was the case with our Master, be rest assured that we would face similar things from the world. The Bible says so in the book of John 15 verse 20. "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also."
Indeed, a servant can not be greater than his Master. Like I said, if our Master, Jesus Christ was humiliated, then we must know that it is a matter of course for us, His followers to face the same treatment. Thank God that we can always find solace in His Word, which is ever true. God has promised to help us through all of these things. The Word of God says,
"He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.” ( Psalm 40 verses 2 to 3)
This is good news for us as God's children. Whatever you may be going through in life, believe that the Lord is with you and that He's bringing you out of it with a new song in your mouth to sing. What's more, those that put you through those unpleasant and terrifying moments will have no choice but to celebrate you because your God has shown up for you. Congratulations ahead, in Jesus name.
PRAYER
Thank You Heavenly Father for not only bringing me out of the horrible pit and setting my feet upon a rock, but also establishing my goings, in Jesus' Mighty name.
