DO YOU THINK THE LORD HAS DELAYED? - PART 2

TEXT: Jer 18: 1-6

"Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel." - Jer 18:5-6

Each time you charge the Lord with delay in answering your prayers, would you please consider that you are clay in the Potter's hand? Can He not do with you as the potter does with the clay, fashioning it into whatever form of vessel "as seemed good to the potter to make it " ? (Jer 18:4). Still, before you charge the Lord with delay, have you found out what kind of vessel you are?

There are different kinds of vessels, my friend! Are you aware that God might have chosen you a vessel of gold or silver and of honour? If so, do you now see the folly in comparing yourself with another who, perhaps, is a vessel of wood or earth? "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour" (2Tim 2:20). Do you not appreciate that the vessel of gold (or of honour) requires a furnace of fire to purify and bring out its beauty; and that the same does not go for the vessel of wood?

Do you still not understand that the oak and the mushroom may look alike in shape, but are of different heights and textures? Do you not know that whilst it takes six (6) hours for God to develop mushrooms, it takes Him about sixty (60) years to get an oak tree to maturity?

Friend, if you think your destiny is delayed, I counsel you to be patient; for after all, you may be an oak! It may amaze you to discover that others who have arrived their destinies or reached their maturity so soon may after all be mere mushrooms!

Be patient with God and He will unfailingly bring out the best in you; for, as it is commonly said, with God, delay is no denial!

Have a good day!

PRAYER

Dearest Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I surrender my life completely to you! Do with me what you will, Lord.
