TEXT:

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you..." (First Peter 5 verses 6 to 7 )

God has graciously offered us the privilege of bringing all our burdens and cares to Him. He did not stop at asking us to bring them to Him, He's gone as far as asking us to lay them on Him. What a great relief this is to us, who have been so laden with many anxieties and challenges of life! What a caring Personality we have in our Lord God Almighty!

The Bible counsels us in the book of Matthew 6 verse 28 saying,

"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:"

Some weeks ago, I was talking to my Sunday school class about casting your cares upon God. Using the example of birds of the air, I asked if any of them had ever seen birds cultivate farmlands. They all responded saying, "No, not at all". The reason for this is that they trust God for their daily needs and He provides for them.

If God so cares for ordinary animals, how much more will He care for you and I who  are created in His image and likeness? We have to accept one hard truth, and that is, that our worries or anxieties can not add anything to us. Rather, they will minus a lot from our lives. The Lord Jesus asked saying,

"Which one of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” (Matthew 6 verse 27).

In other words, if we know how helpless it is to be anxious, then why be anxious at all? If there is help unto us as God has promised, then there is no need to be anxious. If on the other hand there is no help, it is equally useless to be anxious.

Brethren, let's celebrate because we have a very big God who has offered us the privilege to bring all our burdens unto Him, promising to take care of everything for us.

The prodigal son in the Book of Luke 15 verses 11 to 32 thought he could do it all by himself, not until he came back to his senses and decided to return to his father. Therefore, my counsel is that we return unto the Lord, casting all our care on Him. As it's written in the book of Hosea 6 verse 1, the Bible says,

"Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up."

As we return to the Lord with an open heart, it is a way of surrendering our burdens with faith and humility. God will in no wise turn His face away from us. As He has promised, He will heal and will bind us up.

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, I cast all my cares and worries on You. Thank You for giving me relief from them, in Jesus' Mighty name.
