WHY DO YOU SEEK THE MASTER? (Part 2)

SONG:

Lord, I give You my heart

I give You my soul

I live for You alone

Every breath that I take

Every moment, I'm awake

Lord have Your way in me

TEXT

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings" - Jeremiah chapter 17 verse 10.

Let's get it straight once and for all! The true position of our great faith is that God cannot be fooled, neither can He be mocked by any. He searches the hearts and He tries the reins. In other words, the Lord searches the hearts of men to discover the true motive  behind whatsoever they do. The Psalmist says,

"The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men." (Psalms chapter 11 stanza 4)

Indeed, God is in His Holy temple. He is not mocked and He can not be deceived.  Just as I said in my previous message, let's take time to examine ourselves to see if our motives and purposes are in line with divine requirements' and necessities.

The Book of Galatians chapter 6 verse says, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Our salvation should be the uppermost reason for being in a place of worship, while other reasons may follow suit. The Bible rightly says, in the book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

To those of us who are not ministers of the Gospel, but are members of the Body of Christ, why do we go to church at all? Do you attend Church for the purpose of the salvation of your soul or because of what you would gain by being a member of the Church? Is it for the purpose of getting a husband or a job or other connections in order to feather your nest? Besides, there are some who identify themselves with big churches for the purpose of hiding their sinful lifestyles in the midst of multitudes.

I wish that everyone reading our devotional this morning can answer the question: "Why do I seek the Master?"

Can you be sincere with yourself as you answer the question? Do you attend that church for the purpose of serving God, or for some kinds of mundane and carnal reasons? There shouldn't be any reason for attending church other than the salvation of your soul and to serve and worship God Almighty. Having satisfied that, the Lord that searches the hearts will grant unto you the other things you seek (Matthew chapter 6 verse 33).

May God help all of us to set our motives right in Jesus' Mighty name.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, take away deceptions from me as I seek to know and follow You in Jesus' Mighty name.
