WHOSE HONOR DO YOU SEEK?

SONG

I give You all the glory

I give You all the honor

I give You all the glory

I give You all the honor

TEXT:

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (Psalms 107 stanza 8).

We honor our Creator by  reflecting upon His wondrous deeds and by acknowledging His power and presence in every facet of our lives. By doing so, our souls are nourished and renewed.

Seeing God in all that we are, in all that we have and in all that we can ever can be in life is an acceptable and a noble sense of reasoning. Actually, this depends on the individual. It may have to do with the disposition of the heart at the given point of time. Our actions, words and intentions can be a reflection of the one to whom we ascribe honor and glory. It can either be to God or to another person or to ourselves; and if care is not taken, we may be tempted to see ourselves in everything rather than seeing God. Undoubtedly, it will amount to foolishness for one to think that he or she does not need God in life's pursuits.

The truth is that we can not and can never amount to anything in life without God. If only we can remember that we were created by Him to show forth His praise, we will not have any problems with giving Him His due as we progress in life. Never forget that He is the One that has brought you thus far.

The Psalmist in today's reading did not take this privilege for granted. Four times, He averred saying,

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (See Psalms 107 stanzas 8, 15, 21 and 31).

Indeed, men ought to praise the Lord for all His goodness towards His creatures. Take a look at the sunflower. It is beautiful and radiant in color, and it knows quite well that its radiance comes from the sunlight. Therefore, it seeks the sun, bending towards its direction. In the same vein, our lives and every of our achievements comes by the grace of our Maker. We ought to acknowledge this fact, and in return give honor, praise and glory unto Him and to Him alone.

In the book of Psalms 113 stanza 3, the Bible says, "From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised."

Let us ensure that our ultimate thanks, praises and glory go to our God, who is also our Maker and the Doer of the wonderful things we have experienced in life.

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father,  I acknowledge that I'm nothing without You. You are the One Who has made me who I am today. I therefore resolve to give You all Your due, by way of thanksgiving, honor and glory, in Jesus' Mighty name
