WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE

SONG

When He calls me, I will answer

When He calls me, I will answer

When He calls me, I will answer

I'll be somewhere working for my Lord.

TEXT

"And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS... And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her" (Luke chapter 1 verses 31 to 38)

We've got to be very careful about the way we respond to the Word of God. Our responses matter a lot, it determines our end.

The angel of the Lord came to Mary and said  "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS." This message was very strange to Mary. How could she conceive when she had never known a man before now?  At first, she couldn't understand what that angel meant, but after some explanation from the angel she seemed to have understood perfectly.

Mary said, "Be it unto me according to thy word." Her response was literally her Amen to God’s will and His purpose for her life.. She responded to God positively and it brought about her fulfillment in life. Hallelujah!

Many tend to treat the Word of God with levity, sometimes they procrastinate.  The Bible says,

"While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation."  (Hebrews chapter3 verse 15)

Once God has spoken, it's expected of us to respond without delay.

One thing I want us to understand is that Mary did not doubt the angel as many have often concluded. She asked the angel a question. "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" (Luke chapter 1 verse 34.) She wanted clarification about the message, but she never doubted God's ability to do anything that was said.

Another example is that of Peter walking on water.

"... And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus." (Matthew chapter 14 verses 28 to 29)

What's your response  to what you hear? Your response determines what you see. Peter did the unexpected. He walked on water. The  law of nature was literally suspended for him. He did what the others could not do. The lesson to learn in all of these is that as long as God has spoken, we must obey Him. That's when we see God's power at work before our very eyes. As many that respond to what the Lord is saying shall experience the  power of God, in Jesus Mighty name

PRAYER

Lord, God Almighty, I receive grace to respond positively to Your Word that I might see You at work in my life, in Jesus name.
