TEXT

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself." (Daniel chapter1 verse 8.)

Daniel and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego decided not to compromise God's standard, by allowing themselves to be defiled, eating the king's meat.

They were in captivity, in the land of Babylon. Daniel's words and actions with his three friends, demonstrated that they knew the Scriptures and that they desired to obey God.

This is a pointer to the fact that their price tag on God was greatest and could not be compared to any other.  They could not allow the dictate of their stomach to define their faith in God and their commitment to Him.

Many out there, because of hunger, have compromised their faith, and their commitment to God has become questionable.

In whatever circumstance you find yourself, be bold to make your stand known to all and sundry. No matter what anyone says, and no matter the name they call you, refuse to compromise. Even if you are the only one standing, it is better to stand alone with God, than to stand with many, and be without God. Never give in. Just know that you are not standing alone. The unseen one is there with you. Hallelujah!

At times, we make  choices that go against everything we believe and profess. When the chips are down, we suffer the same sense of guilt that Judas suffered when he fully realized the consequences of his behavior. He tried to return the money, but it was too late. The harm had been done. Returning the money could not stop the crucifixion.

"Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders," (Mathew chapter 27 verse 3).

Most times, it becomes difficult to undo the damage we have caused as a result of the choices we have made. Let's be careful with what we do or say because there remain consequences for our actions, some of which may be irreparably damaging.

PRAYER
