UNDERSTANDING BIBLICAL SUBMISSION.

SONG

I surrender all

I surrender all

All to thee, my blessed Savior

I surrender all.

TEXT

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - Jas.4.7 -

What is submission?

To submit is simply the act of accepting and yielding to a higher authority.

When it comes to submitting to God Almighty, l don't expect anybody to have problems with doing so. But the reverse is usually the case. Man has been rebellious to the authority and commands of God right from the garden of Eden and all through the Bible, even to this day. Actually, anyone that refuses to submit to God is opposing himself, and one can not oppose himself and expect things to go well with him or her.

Obedience to the Word of God is equal to submission. When we obey the Word of God, we are in effect  submitting to God's will and authority over our lives. The Bible says that:

"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:" - Isa.1.19.

You can live and enjoy a hurt-free life by living in submission to God’s Word. This will serve to endear you to divine favor and render your enemies helpless.

Besides, your obedience to God's Word commits God to act on your behalf and in your favor.

Walking in obedience or submission to God's commands puts you in charge of affairs, so that you can have things the way you desire them. Obedience or submission is the gateway to the realm of answered prayers.

This was the case with Apostle Peter in Lk 5:4-5.

"Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net." - Luke.5.4 -5

Peter took the Lord by His Word and acted in obedience, and the result was enormous.

Submission to the Holy Spirit is very essential to achieving success in our walk with God. God can not be at work in your life when you are in a struggle with Him.

As I said earlier, anyone that refuses to submit to God is in effect opposed to himself. We will do ourselves a great deal of good to surrender totally to God. This is to say that we need to die to ourselves and allow Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. We must all come to our dead end so that God can have His way in our lives.

Surrendering to God is not to be taken for laziness or weakness. Rather, it is a show of great strength.

The desire to be in total control over our lives, rather than living in submission to God can be disastrous. It depicts lack of trust in God Almighty. Submission to God has its immense reward. There is this saying that those who submit to authority will also be in authority.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father. I desire to obey and do Your commandments. I receive grace to do it so, in Jesus' Mighty name.
