TRUST IN GOD (PART 9)

"For I am the LORD, I change not;" (Mal 3:6)

In the previous parts in the series, we noted that every promise of God is built upon four pillars, among which we identified as God's truth, which will not suffer Him to change. We noted that these attributes of God, among others, have an untold bearing on His willingness and ability to perform His promises to us. We said also that as believers in Christ, since the Lord is avowedly known for His faithfulness to accomplishing His promises, He becomes worthy of our trust.

God's truth, which will not suffer Him to change is one of His attributes that endear men to put their trust in Him. The Bible attests unequivocally that God is Truth (Jn 1:14,17,14:6; 1Jn 5:20) and because He's Truth, He does not change (Mal 3:6); since with Him is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17). Romans 3:4 says further:

"let God be true, but every man a liar;"

The implication of God being true is that He cannot lie (Tit 1:2); or rather, it's impossible for Him to lie (Num 23:19; Heb 6:18), so as to cause Him to change from what He's known to be, to have said and/or promised to do.

"But thou art the same," says the Scriptures (Ps 102:27).

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (Heb 13:8).

On the contrary, satan has been identified rather as a liar! Hear Jesus' testimony of the devil in Jn 8:44:

"He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

According to Dr T L Osborn,

"There is no reason for doubting God.

  1. F. Bosworth said: "Don't doubt God. If you must doubt something, doubt your doubts, because they are unreliable; but never doubt God, nor His word."
  2. L. Moody said: "Is there any reason why you should not have faith in God? Has God ever broken one of His promises? I defy any infidel or unbeliever to place a finger on a single promise God ever made and failed to fulfill."

Satan is a liar. Jesus said so. I can open the Bible and show you how, for six thousand years, Satan has lied to people, telling them that God's word is not true. The devil has denied God's word, and promises people everything - but has broken every promise he ever made." (T L Osborn, Healing the sick)

Dear child of God, it pays to be steadfast, putting your trust in God. Definitely, you will not be found an exception to the Biblical established rule that God is faithful to be trusted. It really does not matter how deplorable your situation is. Lazarus was dead, Jesus promised to go and raise him up and He did! Your case cannot possibly be worse than that of Lazarus or Sarah; not to mention Job, Joseph or Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist, etc.

PRAYER:

LORD, I'm convinced that you are faithful! My trust firmly remains in You, Father; in Jesus name.
