TRUST IN GOD (PART 10, FINAL PART)
"He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform" - Romans 4:20-21 (KJV)
All thanks and glory to God for taking us thus far in this series, especially as this is the final part of it.
All along we've been dwelling on "Trust in God" as our topic. We have been able to establish that every promise of God is built upon four pillars. We have dealt with God’s justice and holiness, which will not suffer Him to deceive (part 7); His grace or goodness, which will not suffer Him to forget (part 8); His truth, which will not suffer Him to change (part 9), today we are dealing with His Might, which makes Him able to accomplish.
Every promise of Scripture is a statement of God's will for us, which like David, we may be pleaded before Him with this reasonable request: “Do as Thou hast said.” (1 Chron 17:23). It's absolutely certain that the Creator will not lie to or cheat His creature who depends upon His truth; and far more, the Heavenly Father will not break His word to His own child. To every child of God, this is absolutely assuring!
This was the crux of Abraham's persuasion; being one that was built on the omnipotence of God: He was able. The Bible records him as follows: "And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform" (Romans 4:21).
In this regard, the Lord has testified of Himself saying: "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" - Jeremiah 32:27 (KJV). Absolutely nothing! God's omnipotence, might or ability to do all things is best explained as "the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." (Phil 3:21). Yes, God is ABLE to subdue ALL THINGS UNTO HIMSELF, including the power and the counsel of the wicked that are arrayed against our fulfillment and wellbeing. This is the God we serve. All power belongs to Him (Lk 28:18). Nothing, and absolutely nothing is too hard for Him to do or to accomplish (Jer 32:17). The Holy Bible is replete with incidents and expressions as to God's ability to do or accomplish things for us (2 Tim 1:12; 2 Cor 9:8; Dan 3:17; Dan 6:20; Eph 3:20)
We have the case of Sarah, Abraham's wife for example. When the Lord visited Abraham and told him that Sarah his wife would conceive and bear him a son, it became a promise. But it was something that was naturally impossible to accomplish because "Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women." (Gen 18:11). Therefore, Sarah laughed upon hearing God's Word (Gen 18:9-12); following which the Lord retorted, saying:
"Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." (Gen 18:14).
It's God's Might or Omnipotence that makes Him able to do or accomplish His promises for us. The amazing thing is that God is ever ready to put to work His Might on behalf of even the least of His saints, especially they that believe and put their trust in Him (Eph 1:19). God is no respecter of persons. If He did it for Abraham and Sarah in the days of old, we can be sure that He'll do more for us in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Dear Father, You possess the power and ability to do what You said to do. Therefore, I believe that there's no reason whatsoever not to trust in You.
