THERE IS A DAY OF SHOWING UP (Part 2).
SONG
You are my hiding place
You've always filled my heart with songs of deliverance, whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You, I will trust in You.
When the weak says, I am strong in the strength of the Lord.
TEXT
"And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan." - 1 Kgs.17:1-2
In the first part of this message, I talked about the hiding place, being a place of preparation. It is usually not a pleasant place, because of the many lessons to learn and tests to be taken for the purpose of promotion to an exalted position.
In our text today we see God asking Prophet Elijah "Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan." - 1Kgs.17.3.
God was the one that asked Elijah to go and hide himself by the brook of Cherith. God provided bread and meat for the prophet, with the brook serving as a source of water supply, as long as he remained by the brook. "And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there." - 1Kgs.17.4 -
If God is the One that has put you in a place, He will by Himself defend and make a way for you. But if you have come to a place by yourself, you must defend yourself in that place. The place of obedience is a place of abundant supply, power, life and fulfillment.
When we live in obedience to the Word of God, He is committed to work on our behalf. In other words we invariably place a demand on the grace of God, and it works! It is expedient therefore to seek God's perfect will for our lives, and not to be presumptuous about whatsoever we seek to do for Him.
When the brook was dried up God relocated the prophet
"And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee." -1 Kings 17:7-9
In obedience, the prophet left for Zarephath just as God had commanded him. He did not question God. Our obedience is very paramount in our dealing with God.
If Elijah had stayed back at the Brook of Cherith he would have died of starvation.
Wherever you are today might be your Cherith, that is to say, it is not your end. There is a Zarephath waiting for you, and the time for you to stand before the Kings and the nobles has come.
Take your eyes off your situation and fix them on God. Stop looking for solutions where there is none.
Remember, God told Elijah to go and hide. There is a time for hiding and a time for showing up and for manifesting.
Elijah was not prepared in the palace, but rather in the wilderness; when the fullness of time came God asked him to go and show himself to the King.
"And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth." - 1Kgs.18.1 -
Like I said in part one of this message 'The man who is to take a high place before his fellow and nobles must first hide in a lowly place with God.'
Kings and nobles shall seek out for you, because you carry the solutions to their problems.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful in all Your dealings with me. I will wait until my change comes in Jesus' Mighty name.
