THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER.

"And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me." - Acts.1:4.

  GOD is Spirit, He did the work of the creation of the Heaven and the Earth by the Spirit. He created man and breathed His Spirit into Him. To crown it all, the Word of God was birthed by the agency of the Holy Spirit.

The Scriptures above were the words of Jesus to His disciples when He was leaving them. He told them to wait for  the Person of the Holy Spirit. In fact, they didn’t have any idea who He was or how the whole thing was going to be. Of a truth, some things had been spoken about the outpouring of God’s Spirit upon His people in the book of Joel.2.28 - "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:"

No one actually knew how or when this was going to be.

Pro to the coming of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, there were many instances where the Holy Spirit played some major acts in Bible history.

At creation, the Holy Spirit was present

 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." - Gen.1.2.

 The Bible says the Earth was without form and void until the Holy Spirit hovered upon the surface of the deep. Before God’s Word could have an effect on the earth, the Holy Spirit had to incubate the Earth. When the Lord began to speak, everything responded to His command. 

Also, at the time of creation God breathed upon man so that man could live.

 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." - Gen.2:7.

 From time to time, in the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit would come upon the prophets of God to perform some functions and would leave.  An example of such was Samson. "And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands." - Judg.15:14

   Through the agency of the Holy Spirit, the Lord had men to His use

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the work of the Holy Spirit in my life, and for having graciously differentiated me from others, in the name of Jesus.
