TEXT

"There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is healthy. - Proverbs 12:18

The words you speak wil either put you over in life or hold you in bondage. Many people have been held captive in their circumstances by their own words. Learn therefore to speak positively over your life and the lives of others.

The Bible says in Col.4.6 - "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."

This is to say we should not be rash with our speech, rather we should be conscious and gracious with whatever words that proceed from our mouths. Words are powerful, so therefore we have to be careful with what we speak. They should be words that can build and not words that can destroy.

The Bible admonishes us to be quick to listen and to be slow to speak.

" Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:" - Jas.1.19

It is very unhealthy to say things according to how situations present themselves visibly. Rather than speaking negatively, we would do well to speak optimistically over every situation.

For instance, God was not pleased with what He saw at the time of creation. Rather than judging the situation by speaking negatively, He had to declare what He wanted to see.

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light." - Genesis.1.2-3

As God was not comfortable with the darkness and He wanted to see light, He commanded it and it came forth.

It was not so with the case of an Israelite woman who was about to give birth.

"And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband" - 1Samuel  4:21

She had just heard that the Ark of the Covenant which housed God’s presence had been stolen. She was so upset about it that she named her baby boy Ichabod, which means “the glory has departed.”

Note what she did: she named her future by what was happening to her in the present. She could just have as easily named him “the glory will return,”; but she was so focused on the negative, so caught up where she was at that moment, that she defined her future and that of her baby by it.

We've got to be very careful and not to be too emotional over things, because as the night follows the day, so also whatever word one speaks will come back greatly multiplied to bless or to curse.

"Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth." - Prov.6.2

Learn to be careful with what you say because your confession can define and shapen your life and your future.

PRAYER

I receive grace to speak words that are seasoned with salt. I confess that I am a blessed child of God. Everything I touch and everyone that comes in contact with me is blessed, in Jesus Mighty name. 🙏 🙏 🙏
