THE MAJESTY OF THE LORD (PART 1)

"Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died." - John 11:21.

By the Majesty of the Lord, I'm referring to the Sovereign power, authority, or dignity of God over His creation and over every circumstance of life as they affect them. God holds sway over the affairs of life. To Abraham, He had revealed Himself as God Almighty, but beginning with Moses, He began to be known as JEHOVAH (meaning LORD).

"And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH (LORD) was I not known to them." - Exodus 6:2-3. (Emphasis added)

One notable fact that is a direct consequence of the Lordship of God is that He NEVER apologizes to anyone over anything! In other words, our Lord never apologizes to anyone, because He is NEVER wrong. As humans, when we apologize, it is because we discover ourselves to be wrong. If we refuse to apologize, then it means that we are arrogant. In actual fact, the more humble and meek we are, the more we will apologize to people around us. Although our Lord is humble and meek and lowly (Matt 11:29), He never apologizes, because He is NEVER, EVER wrong! This attribute of His Lordship over the matters of life as they affect His creatures depicts His glory and is a testimony of His Majesty; which in turn endears Him to men as One that is worthy to be trusted.

Apparently, Martha's words ("if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died." - John 11:21) were by human considerations, very right. But the Lord does His work with deliberation. In the case under consideration, with purpose He stayed where He was for two more days. In man's eyes this was a delay, but it wasn't so with Jesus. The Lord's delay was to bring to God the glory that is incontrovertible and irrefutable. Was it more glorious for Lazarus to be healed or for him to be resurrected? To be resurrected, of course!. Wouldn't the enemies of the Lord have argued that Lazarus was rather in a coma and not indeed dead and in the grave for four days? But Lazarus was indeed dead and was in the grave for four days; by which time, he stank (Jn 11:39).

Martha said to the Lord, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died" (Jn 11:21).She was blaming the Lord for arriving late. But the Lord NEVER came to Mary and Martha with an apology for coming late. Right away, Jesus proceeded to bring back Lazarus to life. There is absolutely no ugly situation of life that the Lord cannot reverse. Do you blame the Lord for arriving late in your situation? In her heart Martha was saying in effect, "We sent men to ask for You a long time ago and You delayed! Because of Your delay, my brother has died and has been buried." Are you like Martha? Have you lost hope because something has happened which you judge as the end of you? Do you find fault with the Lord for a delay? Nay, If we believe, we will see God's glory (Jn 11:40). Besides, blessed are those that are not offended in the Lord (Matt 11:6). I prophesy that with the same Majesty that the Lord is known for, He will see to it that you are not ashamed in life, in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Dearest Heavenly Father, You are LORD over me and over every situation of my life. If there is a delay in my life, it is for my good. Thank You for working all things as they affect me, for good, in Jesus name.
