THE LORD IS ABLE TO GIVE YOU MUCH MORE THAN THIS!

TEXT:

"The LORD is able to give thee much more than this." (2nd Chronicles 25 verse 9, King James Version).

Amaziah, the king of Judah was to go to war against the children of Seir and in preparation towards this, he had paid a hundred talents of silver to hire a hundred thousand soldiers from Israel. But a man of God came to him, telling him to shelve his Idea of hiring Israel for the battle because, according to him, the Lord was not with Israel (2nd Chronicles 25 verse 7). In reply, King Amaziah asked,

"But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this." (2nd Chronicles 25 verse 9).

One thing that king Amaziah didn't realise is that he was fighting the Lord's battle and that whatever he had given towards its execution was unto the Lord. The man of God reminded him in effect that whatever he had given to hire the men of valor from Israel, the Lord was able to give back in multiple folds (2nd Chronicles 25 verse 9). This is a big lesson to learn from.

In our walk with God, let's understand that whatsoever it is that we give to the Lord, He will repay. The Lord is no debtor to anyone! His Word in Genesis 8 verse 22 is that "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, ... shall not cease."

Aren't we motivated to part with our blessings, knowing that as we give, it shall be given to us, good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over shall the Lord cause men to give unto our bosom? (Luke 6 verse 38)

As a Christian, learn to give cheerfully towards these ends, among others:

(1) Learn to give to support God's work. In Haggai 1 verses 2 to 11, God encouraged His people to give towards the building of His house. For neglecting to do this, God said, "Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. And I called for a drought upon the land, ..."

(Haggai 1 verse 10). Thus, every form of giving to support God's work are a precursor to further open you up for God's blessings.

(2) Learn to give to ease the suffering of the poor. In Proverbs 19 verse 17, the Bible says, "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."  Here, we have the assurance that the Lord will be no man’s debtor. He will equally have pity on him that has pity on the poor. He regards that which we give to the poor as loan to Him and He will repay it a thousand times over.

(3) Learn to give to God's servants, especially the ones that feed you with God's Word. The Bible says in Galatians 6 verse 6 that "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things."  Again, in 1st Corinthians 9 verses 7 to 11, Apostle Paul having asked variedly in this regard, in verse 11 said, "If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?"

Whatever it is that you give towards the Lord's cause, understand that He's able to give you much more than you ever gave. The Lord will ensure that your giving in these areas will not go in vain ( see 2nd Corinthians 9 verse 10).

PRAYER:

Lord, I henceforth resolve to give cheerfully unto You, knowing that it pleases You that I give towards Your work. Thank You for encouraging me to give further, in Jesus name.
