THE EARLY AND THE LATTER RAIN
SONG
It is raining, all around me,
I can feel it, the latter rain
Ride on Jesus, give us more rain, until we are soaked and until we are drawn with the latter rain.
TEXT:
“Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and latter rain, as before" (Joel 2 verse 23)
The New Year has just begun. It's still fresh and new; it's pregnant with so many good things to be delivered unto us.
God's greatest desire is to see us flourishing in His abundant blessings. It's never His will to see His children in adverse situations of life. He desires us to be glad and to rejoice always. Whenever we are afflicted, God is also afflicted. Whenever we are happy, He is also happy. The Scriptures says,
"In all their troubles, he was troubled, too. He didn't send someone else to help them. He did it himself, in person. Out of his own love and pity he redeemed them. He rescued them and carried them along for a long, long time." (Isaiah 63 verse 9, Message Bible Translation). God says in verse 8 of the same chapter, "Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour."
Can you imagine the magnitude of love that God has for us who are His covenant children? This is to say that He means good for all of them that are called by His Name. He does not intend us to be anything less than living in gladness and rejoicing.
Today's reading says, "for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before."
This is an indication of God's visitation unto His people, to better their situations in life.
Someone reading the devotional this morning shall experience early rain of joy, rejoicing and celebrations; and it shall be in abundance in Jesus' Mighty name. The atmosphere is already charged with this awesome grace. All we need to do is to take advantage of it. You will be glad that you did!
PRAYER:
Thank You Heavenly Father for the joy of knowing You and for the privilege of being a partaker of Your promises in Jesus' Mighty name.
