THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS CONFESSION (PART 3)
" ... for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." - Matthew 12:34 (KJV)
The spiritual law is that you speak what you believe (2 Cor 4:13). It's not enough to believe. With our hearts, we believe unto righteousness, but with our mouths, we make confessions unto salvation (Rom 10:9-10). Jesus said, The mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart (Matt 12:34). This is very instructive. It means that your words should have a correlation to what you believe. Whatever you fill your heart with is what you will speak. Hence in Col 3:16, you are counseled to
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly ... ", because there's no way you'll speak death when your heart is filled with God's Word which is life. In Jn 6:63, Jesus said: " ... the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Be ready always to say what the Lord in His Word says about you. It doesn't matter if your situation isn't resembling what the Word of God says. By your confession, it becomes easy to locate you, where you are heading for in life. Actually, the word translated into English as confession is a combination of two Greek words - the Greek word HOMO which means "the same", and the Greek word LEGO which means "to say" . The word confession then means "to say the same thing". But to say the same thing as what? We must say with our mouths the same thing that God says about us in His Word. This is the principle of the Kingdom. If you don't say it, it will not work even though you believe it. That is why in Christendom, we have too many believers who haven't received what they believed God for. Indeed, I make bold to say that in Christ, we should progress from the level of believing to the level of receiving. What's the use of believing without receiving? It ends up in frustration. Apostle Paul asked the Ephesians a very crucial question in Acts 19:2: "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" It boils down to this: If you're a believer, what have you received? The three fold spiritual steps are as follows: Believe it, then confess it and eventually, you'll receive it. It's been stated that faith's confessions create realities. Realization follows the confession and confession precedes possession!
The way it works is that whatever you believe becomes real in the realm of the spirit but if you are going to see it on earth, you would have to say it.
Your confession determines your possession. Your confession set the boundaries of your existence. This is so because life and death is in the power of the tongue - Prov 18:21. Rachel for instance in Gen 30:24 said something terrible about herself as she was delivered of Joseph. But let's look at it from verse 23 of Genesis 30.
"And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach: And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son." Hear her confession: "The LORD shall add to me another son".By her confession, she’d limited herself to just two sons from her womb. Indeed, after Benjamin was born to her she died and that was all! She bore just two sons only, in line with her confession.
God created the universe with words! Words filled with faith are the most powerful things in all the world. By our lips we can make millionaires of ourselves or keep us paupers. By our lips we can make ourselves victors or keep us captives. It's a choice we must make, whether life or death. It's like what Moses told Israel in Deuteronomy 30:19 when he said:
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"
PRAYER
Dearest Heavenly Father, I fill my heart with your Word. I make the choice of life by believing and confessing it, in Jesus' mighty name.
