THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS CONFESSION (PART 2)
"But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, ... And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." - Numbers 13:31-33 (KJV).
In the things of God, I'm scared to the marrow to identify myself with the majority group or the shade of its opinion! It doesn't matter how numerous they are. I have noticed that the Kingdom of God doesn't function by democratic principles, but it's rather theocratic by operation.
Twelve spies were sent by Moses. While the majority (10) saw giants, the minority (2), Joshua and Caleb saw God! Those who doubt say, “We be not able to go up.” Those who believe say, “Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are well able.” Before God, the crux of the matter wasn't actually much in the belief of Joshua and Caleb on the one hand, or in the unbelief of the majority, on the other hand. The crucial thing was their respective confessions. God could bear with one in unbelief and yet in His mercy, proceeds to correct his unbelief by showing convincing works to procure the necessary faith needed to ground His intervention in human affairs. But not so with the one who proceeds to vocalize his unbelief by way of confession. Whatever you vocalize or confess becomes a tool to work for or against you. "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth" (Prov 6:2). "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Matt 12:36). God gave us His Word as His perfect Will for our lives and He desires that we believe and accept it as the true and workable path for us to follow.
The ten spies brought back what God called "an evil report." They heard the Word of the Lord, yet they refused to believe it. I had stated previously that failure to confess God's Word is tantamount to unbelief and calling Him a liar. It shows that you are at variance with God. The ten spies reported what they saw, what they felt, and what they heard. God called that "an evil report." An evil report is one which disagrees with God's Word.
God's Word to them was, "I have given you the land. Go in and possess it."
But they turned and said, "We are not able. We can't do it. There are giants over there. We are like grasshoppers in their sight, and so were we in our own eyes." They had the grasshopper mentality, despite God's Word to the contrary. They chose to believe what they saw, felt and heard; and to stand in unbelief, thereby despising God's Word. Like I said, when you vocalize your unbelief, it becomes a more serious problem for you.
This is so because by your confession you set direction and the landmark for your life. Do you know that all of Israel could have entered into Canaan's land—but they fixed the landmark of their own lives with wrong believing, which resulted in wrong confessing. It's settled that your experience in life can’t go beyond your confession. Another vital point to grasp in all of these is that by believing and confession, we hold fast to that which we have received as Rev 3:11 enjoins us. "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.", Jesus says. Why did the Lord ask the Church to hold fast that which they got? The reason is because He knew that there is a power arrayed against us which would endeavor to rob us and defeat us. Therefore, by our right believing and confession, we hold fast to our heritage. When you dwell in unbelief and you proceed to vocalize it, you have in effect given over to frustration and defeat. It's impossible to receive from God without right believing and right confession.
Do have a wonderful day!
PRAYER:
Dearest Heavenly Father, your Word has been given to me to set me on the path of life. I believe and confess it, notwithstanding any adverse circumstances that stand against me.
