THE BENEFITS OF WALKING WITH GOD

SONG

Trust and obey, for there is no other way,

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

TEXT

 - Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.-Deut.5.33

In our Bible reading of today, we are confronted with a command from God, that we walk with Him. It is not a suggestive statement, nor is it a statement giving us an option, but a must do statement.

God's primary intention for man was to have a cordial relationship with Him, but this opportunity was marred in the Garden of Eden by sin.

As a result of this, disobedience came into the world, and the relationship between God and man became distant. And thereafter, so many wrong things followed suit. Despite all that happened, God was still able to find some men like Enoch and Noah, etc that walked with Him in their respective generations.

"And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." Genesis  5:24

Those who by faith walk with God in a sinful world are pleasing to him, and he will give them marks of his favour, and put honour upon them..

Enoch, by faith, walked with God and did not taste death.

He spent his entire life in fellowship with God, and then he was translated, because God took him away.

Enoch as we read, walked with God, he was really, eminently, actively, progressively, and perseveringly religious in his conformity to God, in communion with God, and with complacency in God.

Before his translation, he had this testimony, that he pleased God. He had the evidence of it in his own conscience, and the Spirit of God witnessed it in his spirit.

Enoch enjoyed the benefit of serving God in an extraordinary way resulting in his translation. This, God will do to those of us who live to please Him and who will be alive at the second coming of Jesus, our Lord.

Another benefit of walking with God is that He blesses us with the good of the land following our complete obedience to His Word. The Bible says in Isaiah 1:19 that

"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land."

It can be highly rewarding if we can pay the price of wholeheartedly walking with God, which is not a difficult thing to do; for Jesus said:  "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”Matthew 11:30
