TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT GOD HAS SAID (FINAL PART).

TEXT:

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5, King James Version)

Welcome to the final part in the series. I stated in part 2 in the series that there are  basically two things to do in order to see what "He hath said" fulfilled in your life. I pointed out that the first thing you do is to believe what God has said and in these past series, I have endeavored to explain how important believing is to seeing God's Word fulfilled in our lives. In the immediate series before this, I took time to explain what it is to believe.

Today, I want to discuss the second thing to do in order to have what God has said performed in our lives. It is simply to confess what we believe. This is the very crucial aspect of fighting the good fight of faith as 1st Timothy chapter 6 verse 12 demands of us or the working out of our salvation as  Philippians chapter 2 verse 12 states that we do.

Unfortunately, to a whole lot of Christians, what they understand is that all they have to do in order to have God's Word fulfilled in their lives is to believe. Times without numbers, I have emphasized that the buck doesn't stop at believing. Truth is that you may believe God for something and nevertheless not see it fulfilled. To many of us, this is strange because all along, we've been trained to have the mentality that once you believe God for something, it automatically comes to pass. But the Scriptures tell us otherwise.

In Romans chapter 10 verse 10 we have the principles of salvation set out before us as follows:

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Here, we have the two wheels of salvation conspicuously spelt out. First, you believe with your heart and second, you confess what you believe with your mouth. Otherwise, you will not have the job done. These two principles of salvation are akin to the two wheels of a cycle, both of which are necessary if there is to be good progress in motion.

In actual fact, the Scriptures reveal with emphasis that we should speak or confess whatever we believe. The Bible in 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 verse 13 says that,

"We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;".

Don't be intimidated by the grandiloquence of God's promises to you. God is big and powerful and He speaks big and powerful about you. Never be afraid to say what the Lord says about you (see Hebrews chapter 13 verses 5 to 6). This is the principle of the Kingdom. If you don't say it, it will not work even though you believe it. By believing, it becomes real in the realm of the spirit but if you are going to see it on earth, you would have to say it. We need to take advantage of what God has said about us.

Make it therefore your life's principle to speak what you believe. Jesus said, “The mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart” (Matthew chapter 12 verse 34b). Again, in  Matthew chapter 12 verse 37, Jesus said:

"For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." The spoken word is very powerful and creative when it carries the breath of the Lord in it. Jesus said that the words He spoke were spirit and life (see John chapter 6 verse 63). It will amaze you to learn that your life goes the direction of your spoken word. Proverbs chapter 6 verse 2 affirms that,

"Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth."

In your prayer life, have what we call confession sessions. Depending on your needs, fish out from God's Word what "He hath said" about your situation and begin to confess them. As you do so, you will not much longer see your life lining up with what "He hath said". Praise the Lord!

PRAYER:

Father, I do not only believe what You have said about me and I confess it also, to the end that Your Word is established in my life, in Jesus name.
