SONG

I know, He will never, never fail me.

I know, He will never, never fail me

I know, He will never, never fail me

TEXT:

"For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off." (Proverbs chapter 23 verse 18)

The word expectation means to anticipate or look forward to the coming or occurrence of something you desire. Like the pregnant woman, she anticipates and looks forward to the coming of her baby at the end of nine months, which is her utmost desire.

When the Bible says that "thine expectations shall not be cut off", it means you must be in anticipation of something you are looking forward to having. In other words, you have something on the table of your heart, the thought of which brings joy to your heart.

The pregnant woman has a fetus in her womb which she looks forward to at the end of nine months. Are you looking forward to having any particular thing? Then you are in this class of people we are talking about this morning. But care must be taken to ensure that we think good thoughts because you'll become what you think.

"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:.." (Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7)

What are your thoughts like? Your thoughts should serve to define your expectations. It's not a bad thing to think thoughts about your life. God Himself is known to think thoughts about us. He says in Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11,

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

If God, our Maker, has thoughts of peace about us, and to give us our expectations, why do we not see ourselves in the same light, thinking good thoughts about our lives? Let's remember that we are the way we see ourselves.

I remember one of my favorite TV shows in my secondary school days titled "Second Chance" The principal character in that show was one Mr Bassey. Mr Bassey was used to saying, "if you want to be a millionaire, think like a millionaire." I agree with him completely.

Brethren, understand that your thought life defines you. You can predict a man's future by his thought life. Fortunately, the Book of Philippians chapter 4 verse 8 tells us what to think about:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

PRAYER

All my expectations are becoming manifest and I have begun to see good and pleasant days from now and forever in my life, in Jesus name.
