NEVER GIVE UP ON GOD'S WORD TO YOU (PART 2)

"for I will hasten my word to perform it." - Jeremiah 1:12 (KJV)

One thing that satan will be glad to accomplish in people's lives is to make them give up on God. In the bid to do so, he goes to great lengths, making life difficult for them and lie to them in order for them to stop trusting God. As God's children, we shouldn't be ignorant of the devices of the wicked one (2 Cor 2:11).

God is committed to His Word! He has promised to hasten His Word to perform it (Jer 1:12). Could there be a better assurance of God's verity and trustworthiness than we have it stated by Jesus in Matt 24:35?

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matt 24:35).

God's plans never change. In other words, His plans and purposes are immutable (Heb 6:16-18). But if God were found to change His plans; if He was controlled by caprice; if He said one thing today and said something else that is irreconcilable to what He said yesterday, who could confide in Him or who would have any hope in Him? Under those circumstances, no one would know what to expect; and no one could put confidence and trust in Him. If God were found unreliable and capricious, then as believers, there would be no ground for hope; and like Apostle Paul would say, "we are of all men most miserable." (1 Cor 15:19).

But the Lord has a track record of being faithful to His Word. Attesting to God's faithfulness, Joshua records for our attention the following:

"There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass." (Jos 21:45; see also Jos 23:14)

What do you think it was that decided Abraham to wait on the Lord for twenty five years for Isaac? Hear what the Bible records again of the father of faith in Romans 4:18 (KJV):

"Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be."

According to Keneth Hagin of blessed memory, “To believe against hope is the root of the gift of miracles”. Beautiful!

With regards to Abraham, the Bible says that against hope, he believed in hope (Rom 4:18). What this means is that there was a hope against him, it was a natural hope. All the arguments from sense, reason and experience that would ordinarily have supported and birthed hope for him were against him. The Bible records as follows:

"Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women." It was under these circumstances that Abraham and Sarah trusted and believed God's Word for a son.

But, against all those circumstances to the contrary, Abraham believed God's Word to him. The Bible says of him that he was fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform (Rom 4:21).

Is there anyone reading this devotional this morning that's decided to give up on God because you feel that there's no reason to continue to trust and hope in Him? Cheer up! Learn from Abraham (Isa 51:2). Don't put yourself where the devil will be happy to have you. Rather, stay steadfast, trusting the Lord. As the He told Abraham saying,

"Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." (Genesis 18:14); so He's saying unto you this morning. Hang on. Never give up on the Lord!

PRAYER:

Dear Lord GOD, there's no disappointment with You. I will wait on You as long as it takes for Your Word to be fulfilled in my life.
