MAKING USE OF YOUR GOD GIVEN TALENTS.

SONG

I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed.

I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed,

I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed, I am blessed,

I  don't deserve it but yet, I am blessed.

TEXT:

"And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents,... He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord,...

Then he which had received the one talent came and said,... And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine." ( Matthew 25 verses 20 to 30)

Let us consider the parable of the talents, as seen in our today's reading. A master had three servants to whom he entrusted talents, each according to his ability. One with five talents, another with two talents and unto the third he gave one talent. The first servant who had five invested the talents and got double, the second servant that was given two talents invested the same and got double of what was given to him. The one that was given one talent happened to be a very lazy servant.

He did nothing with what was given to him. Instead, he went and hid it in the ground. By doing so, he squandered every possible opportunity that was available for the talent to grow and multiply, and this was to the annoyance of his Lord.

"His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:" (Matthew 25 verse 26 )

In like manner, the Lord has given us various gifts, which are not for our own personal glory but for the edification of others, the body of Christ, and to the glory of the Lord's name.

We know very well that every individual is uniquely created and endowed with gifts or talents. Some of these talents relate to the ability to serve, showing kindness towards others, teaching, singing, writing,  speaking, and so on and so forth. The question this morning is, what is that area of your calling? It's good we reflect upon this so that we know how our gifts might serve the purpose of those around us. We have to pray to seek God's guidance and to know the areas of our calling. The Bible says, "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." (Luke.11 verse 9).

God in His faithfulness will guide us in the stillness of His Spirit and He shall direct our paths accordingly.

PRAYER.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your gifts in my life. I receive grace to know them and to use them for the benefit of the body of Christ, in Jesus' Mighty name.
