“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (First John chapter 3 verse 18 )
I would like us to start the message of this morning by asking each other what ways we have been able to prove our love for God beyond words? One great truth many of us do not know is that whenever we demonstrate our love for God, it attracts greater love from Him. This principle can also be seen in our natural world. When someone smiles at you, unless you are angry with him or her, you return the smile. Every time you demonstrate to God that you love Him, He reciprocates to you by showing you greater love.
We can’t be identified as children of the Most High God if we don’t love Him. Now, the question is how do I prove that I love God?
Our love for God can be expressed by obeying His commands and walking in His precepts. Our love for God’s Word must always come first because it is the most essential proof of our love for Him.The book of John chapter 14 verse 23 has this is say, "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."
True love for God can be defined by our devotion, commitment, and obedience to His Word. Excessive devotion to self, job, hobbies, even family, can cause distraction to our commitment to God. We need to be careful not to let ourselves get distracted to the end that we accord God less attention. The book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 24 says, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Idolatry doesn’t necessarily mean erecting an idol for worship. It means giving utmost priority to things other than to God or the things of God!
Make up your mind to put God first in all you do, ensuring that He gets the best of you in life. Every act of love towards God is a seed sown on the best of soils, which will definitely bring forth a great harvest of love.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray thee to cause my love for You to grow daily in Jesus Mighty name.
