TEXT
"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:" (Psalms 92 stanza 1 )
As we stand by the gate of a new year, it is good that we express our deepest gratitude unto God Almighty for all His love, goodness, and mercy towards us over the past years.
Indeed, The Lord has been faithful to every one of us.
When we take a look at our lives, from the very time we were conceived in our mothers' wombs, to when we were born and to this present day, we can not but give thanks to our God.
It will be the greatest mistake and, at the same time, the highest level of ingratitude, for anyone to assume that his being alive is by his own doing. Others probably have prayed more than you prayed, and they are no more alive. Others read more than you did, and yet failed out of school, but you graduated. The list goes on and on.
Everyone who is alive should cultivate the attitude of praising God for all His goodness and mercy, especially as He has enabled us to witness the last day of the year 2024. It is good that we prepare Him a special song and give Him a beautiful moment of adoration and worship.
In my previous message, I made reference to the one leper out of the ten that were healed who returned to give thanks to the Lord for his healing.
The ten lepers came seeking healing with loud voices, but after they got their miracle, they did not deem it fit to return to give thanks to the Lord. Let such never be your case.
As we approach the New Year, let our appreciation and thanksgiving be commensurate to the magnitude of the love and mercy that God has bestowed upon us. In other words, let us consider all the blessings, protections, etc, that we have enjoyed from the LORD.
Let us give Him glory always as long as we live. We should not deny Him of our songs of praises for the answered prayers, even for the ones that are yet to be answered, knowing that He will in not much longer than we suppose, show up for us.
PRAYER:
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your love and constant presence in my life. I acknowledge your sovereignty over the years gone by and over the years yet to come, in Jesus' name.
