LOOKING UNTO JESUS (PART 5)

"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." - Isaiah 45:22 (KJV)

Jesus Christ is both Lord and Savior. Looking unto Him is the only way to be saved. Very emphatically, the Bible says that He's the only Way to salvation (Acts 4:12)

With the current happenings in the world, where else do we look for salvation? To whom do we go for help? This is likened to what Apostle Peter said to Jesus in John 6:68:

"Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."

Technology has failed us. Science has failed us. Our governments have failed us. Our military has failed us. So is our economy. No one seems to have the answer to the questions that are being asked. Climate change, they say, is taking its toll on humanity. A few days ago, Maui town and another Hawaiian town were completely razed down by fire. Currently, over a hundred people lost their lives; and that number is likely to rise because as the report goes, about a thousand people are still unaccounted for. The magnitude of the devastation and the loss is simply unimaginable. Worst still, no one, not even the government, with all it had in place could come to the rescue of the said towns. Intractable wild fires with devastating consequences have been reported in America, Europe and Asia.

The current heat waves that are being experienced in America, Asia, Europe, etc are simply unbearable. Today, places like Qatar recorded 48° Celsius. Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and most Middle Eastern cities are experiencing an unprecedented rise in temperature.

Horrendous and horrifying floods are reported in several places almost on a daily basis. Last week's flooding in the Chinese capital, Beijing was dreadful. People, houses and cars were washed away uncontrollably. Nothing could be done to help the situation. Pakistan is yet to recover from the flooding that took place some months ago. Today in India, it's been reported that over fifty people lost their lives to floods and landslides.

Shall we talk about earthquakes? Turkey and Syria recently witnessed devastating earthquakes and aftershocks that would require billions of dollars to rebuild the affected cities, aside from the death toll they've had on the population. Currently as we speak, the most active volcano in Europe is erupting, spewing lava and ashes all over its surrounding.

Time will fail me to make reference to storms and hurricanes that have devastated cities and communities in the USA and the Philippines recently.

Though there's a ceasefire regarding the war in Yemen, the destruction, pain and death toll were simply horrendous. There's the Russia/Ukraine war that is ongoing regarding which we pray not to degenerate into a world war. What about the recent civil war in South Sudan and the ongoing civil war in Sudan? Care must be taken that the crisis in Niger should not result in a civil war. Shall we talk about Al Qaeda, Isis, Taliban, Boko Haram, and their respective affiliates that have unleashed terror on communities and citizens in the countries they occupy. As we speak, Haiti is completely given to gangsterism and terror.

All these and many more are signs of the end. The Lord Jesus foresaw it all.

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: ...  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." (Matt 24:6-8)

Brethren, if there's anytime to look unto Jesus, it's now! "Look unto me, and be ye saved, ... " (Isa 45:22)

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, help me to look unto Jesus, to watch and pray always, that I may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man, in Jesus name.
