HEALING AS BREAD FOR GOD'S CHILDREN (PART 3, FINAL PART, ADDENDUM)

TEXT:

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians chapter 6 verse 13, King James Version).

In the New Testament, there is a category of Scriptures that can be regarded as God's commandments to us, the keeping of which becomes our lifeline in the Christian faith. Ephesians chapter 6 from verse 10 to verse 18 falls into this category of Scriptures as aforesaid.

The fact that we are Christians doesn't insulate us from satanic attacks. Indeed, being a Christian renders you susceptible to constant attacks from the evil one. In the Scripture for the day, the Bible urges that we take unto ourselves "the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Here, we are reminded that there's an "evil day" regarding which we are to "withstand", "and having done all, to stand". It will shock you to know that as Christians, our greatest antidote for satanic onslaughts is to "stand" on the Word of God and to "withstand" the enemy with the same. For instance, in Ephesians chapter 6 verses 10 to 14, the words "stand" and "withstand" occur 4 times. We should never allow ourselves to be moved by circumstances of life from believing and acting on God's Word.

Satan is the originator of sickness and one "evil day" that he may bring upon the child of God is the day of sickness, sometimes terminal in nature. It's not unlikely that the child of God may have contributed to this. Like we say often in spiritual parlance, he probably "opened the door for the enemy to come in"! At such times, don't panic! What may be a death sentence to others, isn't so with us! Remember that Jesus made us "more than conquerors" and "overcomers" (see Romans chapter 8 verse 37 and 1st John chapter 4 verse 4).

In moments of sickness, one Scripture we should ever have in mind is Isaiah chapter 59 verse 19. It says that "When the enemy shall come in, like a flood the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." (Hebrew Translation). This is to mean that we are not without help in times of sickness. At such times and at our request, the Holy Spirit who has been given to us as Helper, Standby, Strengthener, Intercessor, Comforter, Advocate, Counselor (John chapter 14 verse 16), "like a flood ... shall lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah chapter 59 verse 19).

We have a connecting verse to this in the New Testament. It's contained in the Book of Romans chapter 8 verse 11. It says,

"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Life, being the Spirit of Jesus. He came that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly (John chapter 10 verse 10) The Holy Spirit is in us and with us to continue and to perfect the ministry and the mission of Jesus on earth. If Jesus preached the Gospel, the Holy Spirit will continue to do the same. If Jesus healed the sick, the Holy Spirit will continue to do the same for us, etc. The outstanding benefit of the Holy Spirit to the believer is that as Healer, He's at home in us! Hallelujah!

PRAYER:

Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit in me. He is in me among other things, to quicken, restore and heal my mortal body, in Jesus name.
