GREAT REWARD FOR TRUE HUMILITY

SONG

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Break me, mold me, fill me and use me,

Spirit of the living God fall afresh on me

TEXT

He that humbleth himself shall be exalted. - Luke 18:14

Here is an encouraging word from the throne of grace to every true child of God. So many people do not want to believe that the way upward is downhill. They want to just jump from one place to the top of the tree.

The greatest act of humility in the history of mankind and in the universe was when Jesus Christ stooped from His throne and took on flesh to die on the cross of Calvary for humanity. Jesus stripped Himself of His Heavenly glory and came down to the earth for the sake of mankind.

From the reading of today. God has promised to exalt anyone that humbles himself. This is to say: What God expects of us is to clothe ourselves with humility so that He can exalt us in every area of our lives. Come to think about it; what are we, or who are we in life that it's not by the mercy of God? There is virtually nothing to be proud about, because we are His workmanship (see 1 Cor 4:7)

Humility, in other words, can be defined as taking the lowest place without being told to do so. If we are sensible and honest, we should be little in our own eyes; we should not be prideful as if we made ourselves.

If we humble ourselves, God is able to make us useful, accepted and influential etc, in every aspect of our lives.

On the other hand, the Bible makes us understand that God detests the proud. God or man is never interested in lifting up or helping any man who lifts up himself; rather both God and man will unite to honor a humble man.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." - Prov.16.18.

"A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble." - Prov.29.23 - Prov.29.23 -

In almost every instance in the Bible, as well as in life, pride is associated with eventual failure, disgrace and humiliation, while humility is associated with eventual promotion, rewards and success. "When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom." - Prov.11.2 -

There is no hope of prevalence with God unless we abase ourselves that He may exalt us in due time.

The Lord puts His honors upon those who can wear them to the honor and praise of Him who is the Giver.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, search me through and through, take away any element of pride that you find in me and clothe me with humility in Jesus Mighty name.
